"Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. And we are His house, if we
hold onto the courage and the hope of which we boast" (Hebrews 3:6).
"Cristo como hijo sobre Su casa, la cual casa somos nosotros, si retenemos

Following Jesus Christ takes courage. Although God is always with us, He
can ask to move into areas that are uncomfortable for us. With this in mind,
we have to face these challenges with courage. King Saul’s son Jonathan is a
great example of facing challenges with courage. He also exemplifies the
character traits that help us follow Christ with courage.
Seguir a Cristo no es fácil, aunque Dios se halle siempre con nosotros. Puede
que nos pida que vayamos a lugares difíciles, lugares que no nos placen. Con
esto en mente, debemos enfrentarnos a esas pruebas con buen ánimo.
Jonatán, el hijo del Rey Saúl es un gran ejemplo de como enfrentarnos a
situaciones difíciles con buen ánimo. El nos da el ejemplo del tipo de

He disregarded the odds: Jonathan went out against an entire detachment of
Philistines with only an armor bearer at his side. The odds, however, did not
matter to Jonathan, because he recognized he needed to take the initiative to
act. His father had failed to act and Israel was in trouble. "The men of the
outpost shouted to Jonathan and his armor-bearer, 'Come up to us and we'll
teach you a lesson.' So Jonathan said to his armor-bearer, 'Climb up after
me; the LORD has given them into the hand of Israel'" (1 Samuel 14: 12).
He faced the challenge: During much of the history of Israel, the Philistines
were the major enemy and threat to the security of the nation. In the early
years of Saul’s reign, the Philistines had a firm control over the territory.
They prevented blacksmiths from working in the Israelite territories so that
there would be no weapons. Despite this challenge, Jonathan displayed
courage. "Jonathan climbed up, using his hands and feet, with his armorbearer right behind him. The Philistines fell before Jonathan, and his armorbearer followed and killed behind him. In that first attack Jonathan and his
armor-bearer killed some twenty men in an area of about half an acre" (1
Samuel 14:13-14).
He had a proper view of God: Finally, Jonathan had a proper view of God,
which gave him the courage to face these odds. Jonathan told his armor
bearer, “Come let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows.
Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from
saving, whether by many or by few” (1 Samuel 14:6). Jonathan recognized
that his enemies did not fear God (he called them uncircumcised). He also
recognized that nothing is impossible for God. Knowing that God was on his
side gave Jonathan the courage to act and be victorious despite all that stood
against him.

Una perspectiva real de Dios: Finalmente podemos ver que Jonatán tenía
una visión clara de Dios, que lo preparó para enfrentarse a las adversidades.

disuadió porque reconoció que era su deber. Su padre había fallado e
Israel se hallaba en aprietos. "Entonces los soldados de la guarnición
les gritaron a Jonatán y a su escudero: '¡Vengan acá! Tenemos algo
que decirles. 'Ven conmigo,' le dijo Jonatán a su escudero, 'porque el
SEÑOR le ha dado la victoria a Israel'" (1 Samuel 14:12).
Enfrentarse a la realidad: En muchas partes de la historia de Israel, los
Filisteos se hallaban entre los mayores enemigos para la seguridad de la
Nación. En los años mozos de Saúl los filisteos contaban con el poder y el
control sobre todo el territorio. A pesar de este problema, Jonatán hizo gala
de gran ánimo. "Jonatán trepó con pies y manos, seguido por su
