Resumen | En este trabajo se realiza balance, desde una perspectiva ibérica, de la evolución de la producción científica
en turismo, en concreto durante lo que llevamos de siglo. En estos años, la investigación en este campo ha despertado
definitivamente en ambos países, aun reconociendo el carácter tardío de este esfuerzo de acompañar el desarrollo de un
sector de importancia capital para ambas economías desde la generación de conocimiento. A tal fin, se analizan los datos
que aporta la base de datos ISI Web of Science.

Abstract | In this work a balance of the evolution of the scientific output in tourism is done, from an Iberian
perspective, during the years of this century. Only recently, research in this field has finally awakened in both countries,
while recognizing, at the same time, the delay of this effort for accompanying the development of an industry of a core
importance to both economies through the generation of knowledge. To this end, we analyze the data provided by the
database ISI Web of Science.
