PARENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Board of Trustees recognizes that parents/guardians of district students have certain
rights as well as responsibilities related to the education of their children.
The Board believes that the education of the district's students is a shared responsibility. The
Superintendent or designee shall work with parents/guardians, including parents/guardians of
English learners, to determine appropriate roles and responsibilities of parents/guardians,
school staff and students for continuing the intellectual, physical, emotional and social
development and well-being of students at each school site, including the means by which
the schools and parents/guardians can help students achieve academic and other standards of
the school.
Within this framework, the school's primary responsibility shall be to provide a high-quality
curriculum and instructional program in a supportive and effective learning environment that
enables all students to meet the academic expectations of the school.
Parents/guardians shall have the opportunity to work with schools in a mutually supportive
and respectful partnership and to help their children succeed in school. (Education Code

The Superintendent or designee shall ensure that district staff understand the rights of
parents/guardians afforded by law and Board policy and follow acceptable practices that
respect those rights.

The Superintendent or designee shall ensure that parents/guardians receive notification
regarding their rights in accordance with law.

The Superintendent or designee shall take all reasonable steps to ensure that all
parents/guardians who speak a language other than English are properly notified in English,
and in their home language of the rights and opportunities available to them pursuant to
Education Code 48985. (Education Code 51101.1)

DERECHOS Y RESPONSABILIDADES DE PADRES
La Junta Directiva reconoce que los padres / tutores de los estudiantes del distrito tienen
ciertos derechos, así como las responsabilidades relacionadas con la educación de sus hijos.
La Mesa Directiva cree que la educación de los estudiantes del distrito es una responsabilidad
compartida. El Superintendente o el nombrado trabajarán con los padres/tutores, incluyendo
los padres/tutores de estudiantes aprendiendo inglés, para determinar papeles y
responsabilidades apropiados de padres/tutores, el personal escolar, y los estudiantes para
continuar el desarrollo intelectual, físico, emocional y social y el bienestar de estudiantes en
cada sitio escolar, incluyendo el modo en el cual las escuelas y los padres/tutores pueden
ayudar a los estudiantes realizar las académicas y otros estándares de las escuelas.
Entre este sistema, la responsabilidad principal de la escuela es proporcionará un currículum
y programa de instrucción de alta calidad en un ambiente de aprendizaje apoyador y efectivo
que permite a todos los estudiantes cumplir las expectativas académicas de la escuela.
Los padres/tutores tendrán la oportunidad de trabajar con las escuelas en una asociación de
apoyo mutuo y respetuoso y de ayudar a sus niños tener éxito en la escuela. (Código

El Superintendente o el nombrado asegurarán que el personal del distrito entienda los
derechos de los padres/tutores proporcionado por la ley y la política de la Mesa Directiva y
obedezcan las prácticas aceptables que respetan aquellos derechos.

El Superintendente o designado debe asegurar que los padres / tutores recibirán una
notificación con respecto a sus derechos de conformidad con la ley.

El Superintendente o nombrado tomarán todas la etapas razonables para asegurar que los
padres/tutores quienes hablan un idioma distinto del inglés se notifiquen apropiadamente en
inglés, y en su lenguaje principal del derecho y oportunidades disponibles para ellos
