Un film sobre el final de la adolescencia, de ese momento de la vida donde no pasa demasiado pero
todo puede suceder, sobre esa manera particular de estar vivo específica de esa edad. Un día en la playa
antes de las vacaciones de verano. Una chica recién llegada que provoca curiosidad. Un rumor. Uno de
esos días que no terminan. Un apagón que puede ser un accidente o un pretexto para pasar una noche
juntos. Con un estilo documental que contrasta vivamente con la cuidada fotografía en blanco y negro,
Un fin del mundo desgrana sus observaciones sobre la vida cotidiana de un grupo de jóvenes de manera
sigilosa y, a veces, imprevisible, transformándose en una pieza de moderno cinéma verité. El film es una
celebración de la juventud, a la vez que un retrato crítico de una generación sin compromiso, mientras
que su particular calidad fotográfica lo vuelve una idealización evidente, cuyo final abierto señala más
hacia la indefinición que hacia cualquier futuro cierto.
This is a film about the end of adolescence, that moment in life where not much happens but anything
could happen; about that special way of being alive, characteristic of that age. A day at the beach before
the summer holidays. A recently arrived girl who arises curiosity. A rumor. One of those days that don’t
end. A blackout which could be an accident or an excuse to spend a night together. Using a documentary
style which vividly contrasts with the careful black and white cinematography, The End of the World
deals out its observations about the everyday life of a group of youngsters discreetly, and sometimes,
unpredictably, becoming a piece of modern cinema verité. This film is a celebration of youth, but also a
critical depiction of an uncommitted generation, while the particular cinematographical quality of the
film make it an obvious idealization, whose open ending points out more towards an absence of clarity
than any definite future.

PEDRO PINHO
(Lisboa, Portugal, 1977)
En 2003 se graduó de la Escola Superior de
Teatro e Cinema (ESTC) donde se especializó en
dirección y fotografía. Dirigió Bab Sebta (2008),
que tuvo su première mundial en FID Marseille,
donde obtuvo el premio Esperánce Marseille. El
mismo año, Bab Sebta ganó el premio a Mejor
documental portugués en DocLisboa.
In 2003 he graduated from Escola Superior de
Teatro e Cinema (ESTC) where he specialized
in cinematography and directing. He directed
Bab Sebta (2008), which had its premiere in FID
Marseille, where it won the Esperánce Marseille
Award. That same year Bab Sebta wins Best
Portuguese Documentary at DocLisboa.
