August Family Spotlight
Meet Luis Julio: The Great Luilli

Luis, o el gran Luilli como le solemos decir, tiene
20 años y vive en PR con su mama y demás
familiares. Desde que nació demostró ser un
gran guerrero, nació con múltiples enfermedades
crónicas de salud, entre ellas la perdida auditiva
y
la Retinitis Pigmentosa. Aun con sus
problemas de salud, siempre a demostrado tener
un inmenso amor por la vida, un deseo grande
por aprender, y de ser parte de su comunidad.
Luilli comienza en agosto su ultimo año en la
escuela superior, trabaja de forma parcial en una
Farmacia de la comunidad cerca de donde vive,
y también es parte del equipo de la Oficina Dental
de su abuelo, en donde ayuda con los trabajos
diarios. Esta desarrollándose en la cocina y
practica deportes en la escuela a la que asiste.
Donde quiera que va demuestra a todos sus
compañeros sus ganas de ser y servir, y a su
familia que no hay limites para llegar a donde
soñamos. Tenemos un lema como familia+
“Somos guerreros”, y este lema Luis lo lleva bien
en alto.
Formamos parte de la NFADB, hace unos 8 años,
y demás esta decir, que de todos sus miembros
hemos aprendido a ser quienes somos hoy en
día, pues nos sirven de inspiración para abogar y
luchar por los derechos de nuestros hijos.
Bendecidos y agradecidos por ser parte de esta
asociación y por tener a Luis en nuestras vidas.

Luis, or “the Great Luilli” as we like to call him, is
20 years old and lives in Puerto Rico with his
mother and other relatives. Since he was born he
has proven to be a great warrior. He was born
with multiple chronic diseases including hearing
loss and Retinitis Pigmentosa. Even with his
health problems, Luilli always demonstrated a
great love for life, a desire to learn, and to be part
of his community. In August, Luilli will start his
last year in high school. He currently works in a
community pharmacy, and he is also part of the
Dental Office team of his grandfather, where he
helps with daily work. Luis has become quite
accomplished in sports, cooking and working in
the kitchen at the school he attends. Wherever
he goes he shows his companions and his family
that there are no limits. We have a motto as a
family... "We are warriors," and this motto, Luis
proudly carries high.
We have been part of the NFADB for 8 years
now, and we are proud to say that all members
have taught us to be who we are today, because
they serve as an inspiration to advocate and fight
for the rights of our children. Blessed and grateful
to be part of this partnership and to have Luis
“the Great Luilli” in our lives.
