Welcome to the Year 3 Webpage. This year our learning will be based around key themes,
embracing a holistic and creative curriculum in line with the current UK practice. We will
continue to promote the development of your child´s English at all times. In the first term we will
be looking at ourselves, this topic will allow the children to learn how to look after themselves
and to develop a sense of empathy through thinking about their relationship with other people
and learning to respect the differences between themselves and other people.

English
As well as continuing to study units from the English National Curriculum, we will study key
elements of learning English as an additional language. Focus will be placed on common
mistakes children make with English, grammatical differences between English and Spanish
and the usage of English in everyday situations. Emphasis will be placed on sentence structure
and the use of tense, which will also be reflected in their weekly spellings.
Spellings
Children will receive some weekly spellings based upon a common rule or strategy along with
some high frequency words to learn each week and these will be taught and reinforced in class.
Children will be tested weekly on these. Children may wish to practise their spellings within
sentences to help them understand their meaning.

Maths
Great emphasis will be placed on children’s number skills and rapid recall of key number facts,
children need to learn their x2, x5, x10 tables followed by their x3, x4 times tables and number
bonds to key numbers such as to 10, 20 and 100.
Homework
Alongside learning spellings and maths facts for weekly tests on Fridays, the children will be
given weekly homework to complement work in class, ensuring parents are kept involved in
what their child is finding out about and this will need to be completed and returned on set days,
for example a project on their family tree.

Estimados padres,
Me pongo en contacto con ustedes para informarles sobre el sistema de deberes de Lengua
Española durante el presente curso escolar.
El material de Lengua Española que los niños deberán traer siempre a clase son: una carpeta
de 40 fundas tamaño A4 (en donde llevarán archivados los deberes y los folios de teoría), libro
de lectura, libreta de dos rayas para hacer los resúmenes y Registro de deberes y Lectura. (En
negrita he puesto lo que deben comprar, el resto lo entrega el colegio). Todo el material se
guardará dentro de una carpeta.
Cada semana marcaré deberes, que podrán ser de gramática, ortografía, comprensión lectora
o expresión escrita. Los entregaré cada Jueves y deberán ser devueltos el siguiente Jueves.
Los niños son los responsables de apuntar en su Registro de deberes y lectura, qué deberes
deben hacer y cuándo deben ser entregados. Estos deberes son muy importantes, ya que
repasan lo que hemos trabajado en clase y les servirán también de repaso para los exámenes.
A medida que vayamos estudiando los diferentes conceptos, entregaré a los niños folios con la
teoría y/o normas gramaticales, ortográficas o de léxico que se haya trabajado en clase y que
deban estudiar para los exámenes. Estos folios deben archivarse en la carpeta de fundas para
tener toda la información necesaria en un mismo sitio, facilitando así el estudio de la materia.

En relación a la lectura, los niños llevarán a casa un libro para leer y, después, escribir un
comentario/resumen sobre él. Como los libros de lectura son cada vez más extensos, yo les
marcaré en el Registro de Lectura, el número de semanas que tendrán para leerlo y completar
el comentario. El comentario del libro deberá realizarse en una libreta de dos rayas.
Asimismo, cada Viernes el niño/a que no haya terminado el trabajo de clase, deberá llevárselo
para terminarlo en casa durante el fin de semana y ser entregado el Lunes. Es importante que
los niños sigan en el colegio el ritmo de trabajo impuesto, ya que es la única forma de
mantenernos al día con la programación y poder cubrir todos los objetivos marcados para el
curso.
Informaré a los padres cuando los niños no me hayan entregado tres trabajos en un trimestre
(ya sea deberes o comentario del libro) a través de una carta. De todas formas, siempre
anotaré en el Registro de deberes y lecturas del niño, cuando un trabajo no ha sido entregado.
Creo que una buena organización del material y trabajo es vital para que los niños desarrollen
mayor responsabilidad, a la vez que les aporta seguridad e independencia.

Desde el departamento de Español les damos la bienvenida a otro comienzo de curso, que
empezamos con muchas ganas y entusiasmo para que los alumnos adquieran los
conocimientos y competencias necesarios.
Continuamos trabajando paralelamente con el departamento de Inglés para cubrir,
principalmente, el mismo vocabulario que los tutores, través de los “topics”, eligen para cada
trimestre.
Por último, seguimos confiando en la editorial Edebé para educar a nuestro alumnado de la
mejor manera posible, con los mejores recursos y materiales que nos permitan alcanzar los
objetivos propuestos. Pero esta vez con otro proyecto llamado “Pixel”, cuya finalidad es ayudar
a los alumnos a que dominen las habilidades lingüísticas: escuchar, hablar y conversar, leer y
escribir con propiedad, corrección y coherencia y eficacia educativa.
