Los hijos del sol El parque de las leyendas 1. Pre-reading activities: View the poster of Lake Titicaca and locate it on the map of Peru. Students brainstorm vocabulary on the board to describe the photograph of the myth taken at El parque de las leyendas.. A synonym search activity engages the students in problem solving rather than English glosses or teacher explanations for decoding unknown words. Ask students to make a list of all of the verbs they find in story and to identify the person and tense. 2. Silent reading: Direct the students to read the clear copy of the story then to put the scrambled sentences in order. 3. Oral activity: Students retell the story as teacher and other students act out the main events. 4. Writing activity: Students rewrite the story using the synonyms without referring to the written story. 5. Discussion activity: Students are assigned to small groups of 3 or 4 to complete the entries on the graphic organizer.
