Uses of SALIR
Can be used to express a plans
followed by an infinitive.
Can be used to express a destination.
Can be used to express action of
leaving.
Can be used to describe company
Conjugation
SALIR= to go
salgo = I go out
salimos = We go out
sales = You go out(inf.)
salís= You all go out (inf.)
Él sale = he goes out
Ella sale = she goes out
Ud. sale = You go out(f.)
Ellos salen = they go out (m.)
Ellas salen= They go out (f.)
Uds. salen = You all go out (f.)
Uses of SALIR
To “leave a place”:
SALIR + de + def. art. +place
Salgo de la oficina a las seis.
I leave the office at six.
Salimos *del restaurante tarde.
We left the restaurant late.
Uses of SALIR, con’t.
When using the previous constructions
remember that a contraction occurs when
the preposition “de” precedes a singular,
masculine, definite article.
de + el = del (from the…)
Be careful not to mistake “el” for “Él”
“el”= the
“Él” or “él” = he
The contraction ONLY occurs with “el”
Uses of SALIR
To “depart” for a “destination”
SALIR + para + (def. art.) + place
Salgo para el trabajo temprano
I leave for work early.
Ella sale para Madrid el lunes.
She is leaving for Madrid on Monday.
Uses of SALIR
To “ go out with” or “to date”
SALIR + con + persona (s)
Salgo con mis amigos todos los días.
I go out with my friends everyday.
¿Sabes si Elena sale con Juan?
Do you know if Elena is going out with Juan?
Uses of SALIR
To “go out to do something”
SALIR + a+ infinitive
Nunca salgo a desayunar.
I never go out to breakfast.
Vamos a salir a correr hoy.
We are going out to run today.
