Course Overview
I am excited to be teaching you all again this year in Advanced Photography! This course will focus on the Elements and
Principles of Design, visual communication, and advanced Photoshop techniques. As you know, you will be mixed in
with my Beginning Photography classes. This means that you will need to practice patience and independence; I think
you all are up for the challenge! I will do my best to spread my time according to your needs as well as the beginning
students.
State Standards
CTE Competencies: Here are the state standards from Commercial Photography that we will be using this semester:
C-4: Positive Work Behaviors: Students will be able to use positive work behaviors
C-6: History of Photography: Students will be able to understand important historical events and artists
C-10: Career Practices: Students will be able to understand photographic career practices

Expectations, Safety, and Routines
(In addition to the rules held by Highline School District and HS3)
C.A.R.E.S. is important at HS3 and in the Photo classroom. We will use collaboration while shooting and in discussions;
be accountable while handling the equipment; show respect to each other during instruction, shooting, and discussions;
strive for excellence in all work; and be safe while handling equipment while looking out for one another. We will go
over the classroom C.A.R.E.S. matrix in the beginning and throughout the school year.
Safety
In order for everyone and everything to be safe in the classroom we need to keep the following in mind:
Please leave all food and drink outside of the computer lab
Clean computer keyboards regularly to prevent illness
Log off of computers when finished
Use the camera wrist strap when handling cameras
Use the camera responsibly and keep it on you at all times
Protect camera from all liquids Lost, stolen, or damaged cameras: We are using the school equipment for photography class. Unfortunately, lost, theft, and damage may occur, although it
does not happen often. If it does, the student is responsible for replacing the equipment and an additional written
agreement between the student, parent/guardian and myself will be made. Leaving camera unattended or with someone that did not sign it out: Leaving the camera you borrow unattended or with someone else is very dangerous, because you will be responsible if an
accident happens. If this occurs the students involved will not be able to sign out a camera for a week and an additional
written agreement will be made with student(s) and myself. Routines
The following routines will also keep you and the equipment safe: Step 1. Check camera out with me and sign out if leaving the classroom Step 2. Wear "Photographer's Pass" while taking pictures outside the classroom
Step 3. Come back to class 20 minutes before class ends Step 4. Save photos to your account and/or a thumb drive Step 5. Delete your photos from the camera if it is the classroom camera Step 6. Please give camera back to me in my hands Reminders: Keep camera on you and hold with wrist strap at all times

Stay on campus
Grading
HS3 uses standards-based grading. This means that your grade will reflect how you demonstrate your learning on
important standards in photography. You can raise your grade at any time if you are able to show improved understanding
of these standards. Your final grade will be based on an average of all the standards (4.0 for exceeding standard, 3.0 for
meeting, 2.0 for approaching and 1.0 for beginning to meet standard). Parent(s)/Guardian(s)

Expectativas, Seguridad y Rutinas

Phân loại
