We would like to give a shout out to all of our new parents who have
given of their time. They have involved themselves by helping out for
30 minutes to further our Erma Nash kiddos.

the PTA Board this school year. We currently have 3 remaining board

How to help?
For upcoming events, please be on the lookout as we will have a signup sheet in the front office for volunteer opportunities. Don’t hesitate
to reach out to us to sign up or to ask questions about how to become
involved.
Nash Bash
Mark your calendars! Nash Bash will be held on October 20th, from
6:00 - 8:00 PM. This is our annual Trunk or Treat. Cost is $3 per child or
2 for $5. Kids 3 and under will be free. There will be pumpkins, candy,
as well as several special event stations with fun activities planned for
all the kids. A flyer listing all of the event specifics will be coming
home with your child from PTA.

We are still in need of volunteers for this event to help run the
concessions, several tables with activities (face painting, hair paint,
etc.), as well as tear down.
We split the time in half so that you may work your station for 1 hour
and then enjoy the event with your own children for 1 hour as well. If
you would like to work from 6-7 PM or from 7-8 PM or help with tear
down afterwards, please email us at [email protected], call/
text Melissa @ 682-429-3690, or message us on Facebook to be put on
the list.

¡Feliz octubre Tigritos!
Queremos mandar un saludo a todos los nuevos padres que han
donado su tiempo. Han estado muy acomedidos en ayudarnos
durante 30 minutos para ayudar a los pequeños de Erma Nash.
También queremos agradecer a todos los nuevos miembros que se
han unido a la mesa directiva de la Asociación de Padres este año.

Jolgorio Nash
¡Marque sus calendarios! El Jolgorio Nash va a ser el 20 de octubre de
6:00 pm a 8:00 pm. Esta es nuestra celebración anual de “Trunk or
Treat” o pedir dulces de carro en carro. El costo será $3 por niño o $5
por dos niños. Niños menores de 3 años entran gratis. Habrá
calabazas, dulces y estaciones de eventos especiales planeados para
todos los niños. Vamos a mandar una hoja con toda la información de
los eventos.

etc), así como limpiar cuando se haya acabado el evento.

Clothes Closet
*The Clothes Closet is next to our school but serves all of MISD. Each
campus is designated 1 day a year to help volunteer. Erma Nash is
scheduled to work at the MISD Clothes Closet on October 24th, 2016.
At least 2 volunteers are needed per hour. The clothes closet is open
from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm and is located at 1016 Magnolia St. Ste. D.,
Building 600, Mansfield, TX 76063, across from Erma Nash Elementary
by the RL Anderson stadium.
*Volunteers will be in charge of putting away spring and summer
clothes and helping sort/hang fall and winter clothes from their
designated totes. Upon arrival you will be directed in the right
direction as everything is very organized and easy to follow.
*Desiree Thomas is the MISD Clothes Closet Chairman if have
questions you may contact her at 817-692-5181.

Closet de Ropa
*El closet de Ropa está en nuestra escuela, pero trabaja con todo el
distrito. Cada campus tiene designado un día a la semana para ayudar
como voluntarios. Erma Nash está programada para trabajar en el
Closet el 24 de octubre del 2016. Necesitamos por lo menos dos
voluntarios por hora. El Closet está abierto de 9:00 am a 4 pm y está
localizado en 1016 Magnolia St. Ste. D., Building 600, Mansfield, TX
76063. Esta entre Erma Nash y el estadio Anderson.
*Los voluntarios van a estar a cardo de guardar la ropa de primavera y
verano y a ayudar a colgar en ganchos toda la ropa de otoño e
invierno dentro de sus bolsas asignadas. Cuando usted llegue se le va
a indicar como hacerlo porque todo está muy organizado y es fácil de
aprender cómo.

Thank you to everyone for the fantastic start to the 2016-2017 school
year at Erma Nash. As we head into the middle of the first quarter, we
have many activities happening at school that we would like to share
with you.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released accountability ratings for
all schools in September. Erma Nash’s Tiny Tigers met standards and
EXCEEDED growth as measured by 3rd and 4th grade STAAR scores.
Nash earned 5 distinctions (the most an elementary campus can
earn), in the areas of academic achievement in math and reading, top
25% in student progress, top 25% in closing the performance gaps,
and postsecondary readiness. We were one of only 5 schools in
Mansfield ISD to achieve this success. This showed the incredible work
of our teachers, students, staff, and parents. We are committed to
achieving this goal again this school year, with the continued focus,
dedication, and commitment to the success of all students.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held the week of October
24th-28th. This is a very important time to show your child you are
invested in their achievement at school. You should feel free to bring
your questions about curriculum, daily schedules, and your child’s
progress. Teaches will be sending out information regarding
scheduling time for your conference. Our goal is 100% participation
by all families at Erma Nash Elementary. We know we can do it! We
look forward to seeing you at school soon. Happy Fall! J

Gracias a todos por este fantástico inicio del año escolar 2016-2017 en
Erma Nash. A medida que nos acercamos a la mitad del primer cuarto,
tenemos muchas actividades por acontecer en la escuela que nos
gustaría compartirlas con usted.

La Agencia de Educación de Texas (TEA por sus siglas en inglés) dio a
conocer las calificaciones escolares en septiembre. Los Tigritos de
Erma Nash no solo lograron todos los estándares, sino que
EXEDIERON su crecimiento medido por el examen STAAR de 3ro y 4to
año. Nash logro 5 distinciones (las más importes que puede recibir
una primaria) en el área de logro académico en matemáticas y lectura,
el 25% más alto en progreso estudiantil, el 25% más alto en cerrar la
brecha de rendimiento estudiantil y preparación post secundaria.
Somos una de las cinco escuelas del Distrito Escolar de Mansfield en
lograr tal éxito. Esto muestra el increíble trabajo de los maestros,
estudiantes, personal y padres. Estamos comprometidos en lograr
este nivel de nuevo este año escolar, con nuestro enfoque continuo,
dedicación y compromiso con el éxito de todos los estudiantes.

Las conferencias de padres y maestros tendrán lugar durante la
semana del 24 al 28 de octubre. Esta es una oportunidad muy
importante de mostrarle a su hijo que está comprometido con su
desempeño en la escuela. Siéntase libre de hacer todas las preguntas
que quiera sobre el currículo, horarios diarios y el progreso de su hijo.
Los maestros van a mandar información sobre el horario para
concertar una cita. Nuestra meta es logra un 100% de participación de

The week of October 24th – October 27th has been designated “Red
Ribbon Week”. Our goal is to help our students learn the importance
of being drug free. School-wide, we will be recognizing “Red Ribbon
Week” by dressing according to the theme for each day of the week
and participating in activities in support of a drug-free environment.
Monday – Red”y to be drug free – wear red
Tuesday – Sock it to drugs – wear crazy socks
Wednesday - United we stand against drugs – wear red white and
blue
Thursday – Real Heroes Don’t do drugs – dress up like your favorite
super hero
I look forward to seeing all of you dressed up to support being drug

La semana de octubre 24- 28 ha sido designada “Semana del Listón
Rojo”. Nuestra meta es ayudar a los estudiantes aprender la
importancia de estar libre de drogas. Toda la escuela va a celebrar la
“Semana del Listón Rojo” vistiéndose de acuerdo al tema de cada día
de la semana y participar en las actividades que apoyan un ambiente
libre de drogas.
Lunes - “Listones” por estar libres de drogas- Vístete de rojo
Martes - Dale una patada las drogas- Usa calcetines locos
Miércoles - “Estamos Unidos” en contra de las drogas- vístete de rojo,
blanco y azul
Jueves - Los héroes de verdad no usan drogas. Vístete de un súper
héroe.
¡Espero verlos a todos ustedes vestidos listos para apoyar estar
listos libre de drogas!
