Dear Parent: Hunt for shapes at bath time: Watch the online video

Dear Parent:
In our classroom, we are learning to identify and sketch shapes, with help from the PBS KIDS®
series Peg + Cat.
Hunt for shapes at bath time:
•While helping your child prepare for a bath, search
together for items shaped like a square, rectangle,
triangle, and circle (for example, bar of soap, face cloth,
bath towel, water drain, bathtub, showerhead).
•Encourage your child to notice and describe the attributes
of each shape. For example, a face cloth is a square because
it has four equal sides; a drain is round; and a bar of soap
is a rectangle because it has four sides, with the opposite
sides the same length.
•After the bath, have your child describe to a family
member each of the found shapes.

•the shapes your child saw
•your child’s favorite shapes
•what an artist does (creates something beautiful or interesting to see or hear)

Children can choose one of three options to play “Paint-a-Long. In the classroom, children are learning how to
draw shapes. Click the first box to play with your child.
•Ask questions such as: “What shape are you going to draw?” “What are its attributes?”
•Point out the color choices for drawing and ask your child to choose one.
•After drawing, ask your child if the shape looks “right.” if not, show how to click on the eraser to erase
what they drew and start again.

Busquen formas a la hora del baño:
