During his long career, the Murcia-born sculptor Antonio Campillo (1926-2009) created a
number of important works in a wide variety of
forms, in which he bequeathed a reflection of his
artistic maturity. Murcia, the land he loved
so much, is studded
with his sculptures,
which occupy central
and strategic points
throughout the city.

THE SCULPTURE PARK
In the Sculpture Park one looks upon the finest work of a
formidable artist. It is home to a varied selection of the most
prized female figures to have emerged from the mind and
hands of the sculptor, in fulfillment of his often-expressed
wish that part of his oeuvre remain exhibited in the open
air. The park is like a song to a transformed harmony: the
female forms dance, play, leap, stroll, rest, converse...
Nine moving scenes from the everyday life of a woman
transformed into decisive art, and eleven reliefs that
depict customs and trades of the late fifties, are housed
at this museum, always open on Avenida Príncipe de
Asturias.
