Principal's Letter
Greetings Walter Reed Families!
Our school message for the week of September 26th: Start with PICTURE MAKE-UP DAY.
Tomorrow is make-up picture day for students who missed having their photo taken before school started or
for students who would like to purchase pictures. Students need to be in uniform dress tomorrow but may
change into a non-uniform top for their picture. (If you want to buy pictures they will allow new photos to be
taken.)
We are asking all families to complete their meal application for LAUSD. We need 100% participation in order
to qualify for federal funding for our school and meal pin codes will expire on September 28th if you have not
completed an application this year. Please see Mr. Demski in the Title 1 office; room 103, if you have any
questions.
Thank you to our families who supported the STEAM Academy sponsored Bingo night on Friday. Coming up,
we have the Tech Academy sponsored Hollowreed Howling Haunted Hangout on October 14th and
tomorrow we bring back our recycling CARE Mondays, sponsored by the Environmental Science
Academy! Bring your recyclables, plastic only, to the Sarah Street gate at drop-off and pick-up. Your
recycling turns into fundraising dollars for our school! Check our school website, at reedms.com , to learn
more about what recycling items are allowed.
Finally, I have been receiving parent concerns regarding unsafe driving and walking around campus at dropoff and pick-up. I am asking you to please use the traffic pattern of driving clockwise around the school
perimeter with no left turns on Landale or Moorpark. Students need to use the sidewalks and avoid walking
on the street alongside parked cars and use the crosswalks for crossing the street. U turns, double-parking,
and blocking driveways are unsafe and LAPD has been issuing tickets for these violations. Please reduce
your speed and park with caution and safety at Walter Reed; your children's safety is our priority.

Mañana es el día de fotos para los estudiantes que no pudieron tomarla antes de que comenzara la escuela
o para los estudiantes que deseen comprar fotos. Los estudiantes necesitan venir mañana con su uniforme,
pero pueden cambiarse para tomarse la foto sin el uniforme

and how to apply for scholarships for High Schools
plus attend at multiple presentations of High Schools of your choice,
8th grade families - Learn what makes many High Schools so special
