Corto de vista desde niño y por ello incapaz de volar, Jiro se une a la
división aeronáutica de una compañía de ingeniería en 1927. La película
relata su biografía y recrea sucesos históricos que marcaron su vida,
como el terremoto de Kanto de 1923, la Gran Depresión, la epidemia
de tuberculosis y la entrada de Japón en la guerra. Jiro se enamora de
Naroko, consolida su amistad con su colega Honjo y con sus innovaciones
trae el futuro al mundo de la aviación.
Nearsighted from a young age and thus unable to become a pilot, Jiro
joins the aircraft division of a major Japanese engineering company in
1927. The film chronicles much of his life, and depicts key historical events
that affected deeply the course of Jiro’s life, including The Great Kanto
Earthquake of 1923, The Great Depression, the tuberculosis epidemic,
and Japan’s plunge into war. He meets and falls in love with Nahoko,
grows and cherishes his friendship with his colleague Honjo, and innovates
tremendously, leading the aviation world into the future.

greatest animation moviemakers. His first
big success was Nausicaä, of the valley of
the wind (1984), followed by My Neighbour
Totoro (1988), Porco Rosso (1992), Princess
Mononoke (1997), Spirited Away (2001),
for which he won a Golden Bear and an
Academy Award, and Ponyo (2008),
screened the following year in San Sebastian.
