Welcome to Spring! I hope everyone had a restful and family
Willed Spring Break. We have two and a half months left in the
2015-2016 school year and it’s going to be a busy ending. Take a
lookatthelistofeventstotherightofthismessage.Allthisactivity
willcertainlymakethetraditionallyspeedyspringWlybyevenfaster.
Thishasbeenanoutstandingyearforusandwelookforwardending
onahighnote.

OnApril15th,wewillagainhaveanincredibleeventhereat
FiveOaks.Asapartofacommunity-buildingday,allofourstudents
willparticipateinserviceactivities.Ourstaffisworkingveryhardto
setupconnectionswithdifferentorganizationsandworkingtogive
ourstudentstheopportunitytogivebacktothecommunity.Iam
surewewillhaveanotherwonderfulday.Wearehopingthat
studentswillrealizetheyareapartofalargercommunityandworld,
andthereismuchthatcanbelearnedoutsidetheclassroom.Like
everyyear,I’mconWidentthatallofus--studentsandteachersalike-willcomeawayfromthisdaybetter.Ittakesallofussupporting
eachothertoimproveourlives.

descanso de primavera relajante y lleno de tiempo en familia. Nos
faltandosmesesymediodelañoescolar2015-2016yvaahacerun

Hoverboards
!
Rapidly increasing in popularity,
hover boards create new safety
challenges for schools to consider
and recent reports of hoverboards
exploding or combusting have
further raised those concerns. Please
inform your community that due to
the liability of storing these devices
for students and the associated
concern of fire hazards, hover
boards may not be used, charged, or
stored in or near school buildings.
This restriction will remain in effect
until safety groups such as the
Consumer Product Safety
Commission declare these items to
be mechanically fire safe, at which
time we will reevaluate our position.

comunidad que debido a la
responsabilidad de almacenar estos
aparatos para los estudiantes y la
preocupación relacionada con el peligro
de incendio, patinetas voladoras (Hover
boards) no pueden ser usadas,
cargadas, o guardadas en o cerca los
edificios escolares. Esta restricción se
mantendrá en efecto hasta que los
grupos de seguridad como la Comisión
de Producto de Seguridad al Consumidor
declare estos artículos de ser seguros
mecánicamente contra fuego, momento
en que volveremos a evaluar nuestra
posición.

The PTO needs parents who are
interested in holding board positions. This current year, we have a bare
minimum board: President, Secretary,
Treasurer, and RC Volunteer coordinator. Two of these positions (President and
Secretary) are held by parents of 8th
graders and they will not be at the school
in the fall. We need to have parents begin
shadowing them as soon as possible to
then fill in next fall. The PTO cannot
remain a non-profit entity at the school
without a minimum of President,
Secretary and Treasurer. El PTO (Comité de Padres) necesita
padres de familia que estén interesados en
puestos en el comité. Actualmente este
año, tenemos justo el mínimo del comité:
Presidente, Secretaria, Tesorero, y
Coordinador de Voluntarios de RC. Dos
de estos cargos (Presidente y Secretaria)
se llevan a cabo por dos padres de familia
de 8vo grado y no estarán en la escuela en
el otoño. Necesitamos que los padres ya
empiecen a seguirlos lo más pronto
posible para después sustituirlos el
próximo otoño. El PTO no pueden
mantenerse una entidad sin fines de lucro
en la escuela sin el mínimo de Presidente,
Secretaria y Tesorero. The PTO has worked to support staff with
funds for extra classroom supplies/
extension activities through grants, funds
for field trips, and coordinate volunteers
for school wide activities (i.e. picture day,
packet pick up). With the addition of a
Five Oaks Volunteer Coordinator,
volunteer opportunities and school wide
community building activities (such as
the Bingo night) could expand even
further.
El PTO ha trabajado para apoyar al
personal con fondos para útiles/extensión
de actividades extras del salón a través de
becas, fondos para paseos escolares, y
coordinar voluntarios para actividades de
toda la escuela (día de fotos, día de
recoger paquetes). Con la adición de un
Coordinador de Voluntarios de Five Oaks,
oportunidades de voluntarios y actividades
de convivencia de toda la escuela (como la
noche de Bingo) podrá expandirse aun
