1. Sign-in and Welcome
Mrs. Matiana Pimentel, DELAC president, called to order at 5:41 p.m. with eight (8) members present.
Mrs. Matiana Pimentel welcomed the two board members present as guests: Mrs. Esthela Torres de
Siegrist and Mrs. Maria Morgan. The DELAC members were asked to present themselves.
2. Mrs. Pimentel asked the members to review the agenda.
Motion: Mrs. Maria Celedon moved to approve the agenda.
Second: Mrs. Carolina Angelica Rodriguez seconded the motion.

3. The approval for the minutes for the February 25, 2016 meeting were tabled.
4. Ms. Alvidrez reviewed the district-wide data for the 2015 AYP report and the data that was presented to
the LCAP committee. Ms. Alvidrez explained the change in how the AYP report was published due to
the transition to the new state assessment and that districts were being evaluated in two areas: the
participation rate and the graduation rate. Although the percent proficient is being reported, California
received a waiver to exclude the AMO from the AYP determinations. The district-wide data for the
CAASPP was reviewed. Members of the committee asked what the school was doing to prepare the
students for this test. Ms. Alvidrez explained that students are beginning to prepare for the CAASPP as
of the 9th grade. Also, tutoring is being provided at each of the schools to support students with their
academic progress. Demographic data and graduation, attendance, suspension, and drop-out rates were
also reviewed. Mrs. Carolina Angelica Rodriguez asked if the tutoring schedule could begin at an
earlier time for the students that finish school at 2pm. The concern is that these students don’t stay to
wait for tutoring to begin at the end of the school day. Mrs. Sandra Iribe Aracely Ramirez shared that
the schools could set up a tutoring session during the school day to make tutoring mandatory for those
students who are not making satisfactory progress. Ms. Alvidrez advised the DELAC representatives to
discuss this issue at their ELAC meeting and that the recommendation be made to the School Site
Council.

5. Ms. Alvidrez reviewed the draft of the English Learner Program Services brochure. As she reviewed
each section of the brochure, DELAC members had the opportunity to ask questions or make
recommendations for revisions. The ELAC members shared that the Mexican consulate is providing
classes so that Mexican citizens can complete their high school diploma from Mexico.
No recommendations were made for revisions to the brochure.
6. Mrs. Pimentel asked the members if there were any questions or clarifications needed on section 3 of
the parent involovement policy administrative regulations. There were no questions or
recommendations.
7. ELAC Reports
Arroyo: Mrs. Ofelia Guerrero informed the committee that the ELAC meeting took place on April 21st and that
the committee discussed the following topics: the AYP data. She also shared that several parents, including
several fathers, participated in the Foothill workshops on “Symptoms of Depression”. The school also hosted a
“Coffee with the Principal” meeting and had the opportunity to discuss different school-wide issues with the
principal and take a tour of the campus. This meeting takes place each month.
El Monte: Mrs. Maria Celedon informed the committee that the ELAC meeting took place on April 20th and that
Mr. Gabriel Flores, Assistant Principal, facilitated the meeting and shared the SBAC data for El Monte High
School. The committee also reviewed the AYP data for El Monte. Mrs. Celedon also shared that the students in
advanced classes have begun taking the AP exams and that the district is paying for the tests. The 11th grade
students are preparing for the SAT exams by attending tutoring after school and on Saturdays. She shared that the
Parent Workshop on the Reclassification Process took place on April 12th. The ELAC committee recommended
that the same information be shared with students directly so that they can understand the importance of
reclassification. The Reclassification Celebration will be held on May 19th for the 62 students who were
reclassified during the 2015-2016 school year. The next ELAC meeting will be held on May 18th.
Mountain View: No report. The March 8th meeting was cancelled due to lack of quorum but the announcements
were shared. A parent workshop on the topic “Detecting Depression and Anxiety in our Children” and it was
attended by more than 50 parents. Two parent volunteers working with the Community Liaison made phone calls
to the 9th and 10th grade parents to invite them to the workshop. The next parent workshop will be held on May
25th on the topic “Drug Addiction”. The next meeting will be held on April 21st.
Rosemead: No report.
South EL Monte: Mrs. Sandra Iribe Aracely Ramirez informed the committee that the ELAC discussed the
following topics: the D and F rate in English and math, how parents can support their children, and the parent
workshop on adolescent depression. The committee also reviewed the different workshops held at the Parent
Academy.
8. Announcements
Mrs. Matiana Pimentel reviewed the announcements.
• The next LCAP meeting will be held on May 11th at 6:00 p.m. at the District Office.
• The next DELAC meeting will be held on May 26th at 5:30 p.m. at the District Office.
Mrs. Matiana Pimentel invited the committee members that attended the Parent Academy to attend the
Board meeting that will be held on Wednesday, May 4th, as an expression of thanks to the board for
supporting parent involvement activities.
9. Evaluation and Adjournment. Mrs. Matiana Pimentel asked the members to complete the evaluation.

La Sra. Matiana Pimentel, presidenta del DELAC, llamo a orden a la junta a las 5:41 p.m. con ocho (8)
miembros presentes. La Sra. Matiana Pimentel dio la bienvenida a los dos invitados: miembros de la
mesa directiva, la Sra. María Morgan y la Sra. Esthela Torres de Siegrist. Se les pidió a los miembros
DELAC que se presentaran.

3. La aprobación de las actas de la reunión del 25 de febrero de 2016 se pospusieron.
4. La Sra. Alvidrez repasó los datos de todo el distrito para el informe de progreso adecuado anual de 2015
y los datos que se presentaron al comité de LCAP. La Sra. Alvidrez explico el cambio en como el
informe AYP fue publicado debido a la transición a la nueva evaluación del estado y que los distritos
fueron evaluados en dos áreas: la tasa de participación y la tasa de graduación. Aunque el porcentaje de
dominio se está reportando, California recibió una dispensa para excluir el objetivo anual de las
determinaciones del progreso adecuado anual. Se revisaron los datos de todo el distrito para los
resultados del CAASPP. Miembros del comité preguntaron que está haciendo cada escuela para preparar
a los estudiantes para este examen. La Sra. Alvidrez explico que los estudiantes están comenzando a
prepararse para el CAASPP a partir del 9° grado. También, clases particulares se ofrece en cada una de
las escuelas para apoyar a los estudiantes con su progreso académico. También se revisaron datos
demográficos y las tasas de graduación, asistencia, suspensión y deserción. La Sra. Carolina Angélica
Rodríguez preguntó si el horario de tutoría podría comenzar una hora más temprano para los alumnos
que terminan la escuela a las 2:00 de la tarde. La preocupación es que estos estudiantes no se quedaran a
esperar inicio de tutoría al final del día escolar. La Sra. Sandra Iribe Aracely Ramirez compartió que
las escuelas podrían configurar una sesión de tutoría durante el día escolar para hacer tutoría obligatoria
para aquellos estudiantes que no están haciendo progreso satisfactorio. La Sra. Alvidrez les aconsejó a
los representantes del DELAC que discutieran este tema en su reunión de ELAC y que se haga la
recomendación al concilio escolar de la escuela.

5. La Sra. Alvidrez repasó el borrador del folleto para el programa de servicios para los aprendices de
inglés. Al paso que se repasó cada sección, los miembros tenían la oportunidad de hacer preguntas o
recomendaciones para revisiones. Miembros del ELAC compartieron que el consulado de México ofrece
clases para que los ciudadanos Mexicanos puedan completar su diploma de escuela secundaria de
México.
No se hicieron recomendaciones para revisiones al folleto.
6. La Sra. Matiana Pimentel les pidió a los miembros del comité si tenían preguntas o aclaraciones en las
secciones 3 de los reglamentos administrativos de participación de padres. No hubo preguntas o
recomendaciones.
7. Informes del ELAC
Arroyo: La Sra. Ofelia Guerrero informo al comité que las reunión de ELAC se celebró el 21 de abril y que el
comité reviso los siguientes temas: . También compartió que varios padres participaron en la reunión “Café con
la directora” y tuvieron la oportunidad de hablar sobre diferentes temas de toda la escuela con la directora y hacer
un recorrido por la escuela. Esta reunión se celebra cada mes.
El Monte: La Sra. María Celedon informó al comité que la reunión de ELAC se celebró el 20 de abril y que el
Sr. Gabriel Flores, asistente al director, facilito la reunión y repasó los datos de la prueba SBAC para la escuela El
Monte. El comité también examinó los datos del informe del progreso adecuado anual para la escuela El Monte.
La Sra. Celedon compartió que los estudiantes de clases avanzadas empezaron a tomar los exámenes AP el 2 de
mayo y que el distrito va pagar para esos exámenes. Los estudiantes del grado 11 se están preparando para los
exámenes SAT tomando tutoria después de la escuela y en los sábados. También compartió que el taller de padres
sobre el proceso de reclasificación se celebró el 12 de abril. El Comité ELAC recomendó que la misma
información sea compartida con los alumnos directamente para que puedan entender la importancia de la
reclasificación. La celebración de la reclasificación se celebrara el 19 de mayo para los 62 estudiantes que fueron
reclasificados en el curso del año escolar 2015-2016. La próxima reunión de ELAC se celebrara el 18 de mayo.
Mountain View: No hubo informe. La reunión del 8 de marzo se canceló debido a falta de quórum pero si se
presentaron los anuncios. Se celebró un taller para padres sobre el tema “Detección de depresión y ansiedad en
nuestros niños” y conto con más de 50 padres. Dos padres voluntarios trabajaron con el trabajador de la
comunidad para hacer llamadas telefónicas a los padres de grado 9 y 10 para invitarlos al taller. El próximo taller
de padres se celebrara el 25 de mayo sobre el tema “Drogadicción”.
La próxima reunión se celebrará el 21 de abril.
Rosemead: No hubo informe.
South EL Monte: La Sra. Sandra Iribe Aracely Ramirez informó al comité que el ELAC revisó los siguientes
temas: la tasa de D y F en inglés y matemáticas, como los padres pueden apoyar a sus hijos, y el taller para padres
sobre la depresión en los adolescentes. El comité también repasó los diferentes talleres de la academia de padres.
8. Anuncios
La Sra. Matiana Pimentel repasó los anuncios.
• La próxima reunión del LCAP se llevará a cabo el 11 de mayo a las 6:00 de la tarde en el distrito.
• La próxima reunión del DELAC se llevará a cabo el 26 de mayo a las 5:30 de la tarde en el distrito.
La Sra. Matiana Pimentel invitó a los miembros del comité que asistieron a la academia de padres a
que vinieran a la reunión de la mesa directiva que se celebrara el miércoles, 4 de mayo, como una
expresión de gracias a la mesa directiva por apoyar las actividades de participación de los padres.
9. Evaluación y aplazamiento. La Sra. Matiana Pimentel les pidió a los miembros que completaran la
evaluación.
