It seems like a simple one at first but putting it into practice is more than simple. This work of mercy invites us to reflect on how to react in certain circumstances which we find ourselves in. This could be when someone cuts in line in front of us or when someone does something that bothers us or isn't pleasing to us. This work of mercy encourages us to act and to react with Christian love, which means we need to think what would Jesus do in that situation. Would he react with anger or would he react with patience and love? We call ourselves Christians and this means we imitate Christ or a least we try to imitate him with our actions. That is our calling, to be another Christ on this earth. However this is not easy, that is why we need to approach Him and ask for his help (grace) so we can do what he commands us to do: “love your neighbor as we love ourselves” Nos llamamos cristianos y esto significa que nosotros imitamos a Cristo o al menos tratamos de hacerlo en nuestras acciones. It is not easy or pleasant to understand or to accept the wrongs of others, they are not perfect and neither are we, and sometimes we are hard on them. Remember nobody is perfect, but God invites us to learn from him so we can bear the wrongs of others with compassion and love. Remember there is someone out there bearing your wrongs with patience. -Deacon John Becerra. Foundation Distributions exceed $600,000 This week the St. Luke Catholic School Foundation makes its annual contribution to the school. The 2016 contribution of $47,500 sends total foundation distributions above the $600,000 over the past 20 years. These contributions have funded school operations, student financial assistance and facilities improvements. Total Foundation Assets remain at the $900,000 mark. Local contributions, matched annually by Joe Weston for the past 12 years, have added significantly to the growth of the Foundation. We hope that parishioners and all community members who share the desire the support the school on a sustaining basis, will participate in the work of building this financial resource. Opportunities to contribute include participation through the Annual Appeal, memorial gift giving and estate planning. For more information about the Foundation contact Rich Haener (503-678-5140).
