Cobos (1986, p. 24) proposed the genus
Paradema (type species by original designation: P.
picturella Cobos, 1986). This name is preoccupied
by Paradema Slater, 1980 in Hemiptera. I want to
replace Cobos’s name Paradema with Cobosiantha
Alonso-Zarazaga, nom. nov., constructed on the
basis of my master and friend’s name, and ending antha (from Greek anthos, meaning splendour, with
end change). Gender is feminine. Type species is
then Cobosiantha picturella (Cobos, 1896), comb.
nov.
Unfortunately, Dr. Antonio Cobos’s health is so
severely damaged that it is impossible to expect
him to replace his genus with a new name.
Mulsant (1863, p. 381) proposed the subgenus
Argalia (type species by present designation:
Saperda tremulae Fabricius, 1775) for a division of
genus Saperda Fabricius, 1775. This name is preoccupied by Argalia Gray, 1846 in Reptilia. I here
propose to replace Mulsant’s name Argalia with
Lopezcolonia Alonso-Zarazaga, nom. nov., named
after my good colleague and friend, the Spanish
coleopterist Mr. José Ignacio López-Colón (RivasVaciamadrid, Spain). Gender is feminine.
This name is currently used as a separate genus
or a subgenus of Saperda, according to different
authors. The type species is currently considered to
be a synonym of Lopezcolonia octopunctata
(Scopoli, 1772), comb. nov. (originally in
Leptura). The other species included by Mulsant is
now Lopezcolonia punctata (Linnaeus, 1767),
comb. nov. (originally in Cerambyx).
