¡Vamos al museo!
Museo de
Ciencias Naturales
La Salle
In addition to outdoor activities, visitors at
Parque La Sabana in Costa Rica can enjoy
el Museo de Ciencias Naturales La Salle, a
museum dedicated to nature and science located
in the southwest corner of the park. The museum
is divided into various sections: minerales y rocas,
paleontología, invertebrados, malacología,
artrópodos, insectos, vertebrados, ornitología,
mamíferos, and esqueletos. There are more than
55,000 exhibits on permanent display.
Choose five sections of the museum and find
their meanings in a dictionary. Then make a list
of two or three items you might see on exhibit for
each of the five sections.

El arte
Make a list of six to ten animals or insects that
may be found in Parque La Sabana or el Museo
de Ciencias Naturales La Salle. If you need more
animal names, see page R8. Make a poster
containing illustrations of each
with captions in Spanish.
El lenguaje
Many scientific terms in Spanish and English are
similar due in part to their common Latin and
Greek roots. Research the Latin and Greek roots
of the following words:
