April 2015 From the Principal’s desk Dear Byrd Families, As mentioned in communications to parents earlier this school year, we will ​
conduct lessons
for students on prevention of child sexual abuse during the months of October and April.
The lessons will be taught by our school psychologist, Mrs. Culkin, our school social worker,
Mrs. Tanimura or Ms. Avila (a district bilingual social worker) who will be visiting each
classroom to teach the lessons. We will be teaching the lessons during the week of April
13* (​
*subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances, but not before that week).
Later this month we will be hosting Portfolio Sharing Conferences. Please sign up and
attend with your child(ren) to see what they have been learning all year and the progress
they have made toward reaching the goals they set in October. You will also be able to visit
the PTO sponsored Book Fair. We look forward to seeing everyone at Portfolio Sharing
Conferences.
Parents who would like to complete 2015-16 registration before Portfolio Sharing
Conferences can access their Skyward Family Access account and complete the process
anytime between April 1 through May 15. Please contact the school secretary should you
need your Skyward login or password. You may sign in to your account or come to school
if you need assistance. ​
Families that require help with the on-line registration process will
receive assistance in the LTC each evening during Portfolio Sharing Conferences. Please
bring phone numbers, addresses and your password, if you know it, with you when you
attend Portfolio Sharing Conferences. Also, those parents who have not already registered
incoming kindergartners should come with their child’s birth certificate and proofs of
residency so they can register for school next year.
Parents with students in kindergarten, grades 2 and 5 are invited to attend a Family Science
Night on May 5. Invitations will be coming home soon. We hope you will be able to attend.

Abril 2015 Noticias de la Directora Estimadas Familias Byrd, Como lo mencionamos a principio de año escolar en comunicados a los padres, vamos a conducir lecciones sobre la prevención del abuso sexual durante los meses de Octubre y Abril. Las lecciones serán dirigidas por la psicóloga de la escuela, Sra. Culkin, la trabajadora social, Sra. Tanimura y Srta. Avila (trabajadora social bilingue del distrito). Ellas visitaran los salones para dar la lección. Las lecciones comenzarán la semana del 13* de Abril (*puede cambiar la fecha, pero no sería antes de esa semana). A finales de Abril tendremos las conferencias con maestros. Favor de apuntarse para venir con su hijo/a y ver lo que han aprendido todo el año y también pueden ver el progreso hacia las metas que establecieron en Octubre. No olvide visitar la Feria del Libro patrocinada por el PTO. Espero verlos a todos durante las conferencias. Si usted desea inscribirse para el año escolar 2015­2016 antes que vengan a las conferencias, usted puede hacerlo por computadora. Usted tiene acceso a “Skyward Family Access”. Llame a la oficina de la escuela para obtener su clave y puede inscribirse entre el 1o de Abril y el 15 de Mayo. También puede inscribirse durante las noches de conferencias. Nuestro personal le dará asistencia para las inscripciones. Favor de traer teléfonos, direcciones y su clave, si es que la tiene. Si no a inscrito a sus hijos para el kinder, puede hacerlo durante las conferencias. Tiene que traer el acta de nacimiento original y tres comprobantes de domicilio. Los padres con estudiantes en los grados kinder, 2 y 5 estan invitados a la Noche de Ciencias el 5 de Mayo. Muy pronto les mandaremos la invitación. Espero puedan asistir. Atentamente​
