He is in their midst. They followed him, whether they were hungry or thirsty, fatigue or sick… their focus was on Jesus. They listen to him and his words were magical, so heavenly, comforting, encouraging, above all life giving but Jesus knew that it is also equally important to feed them not only the word of God but also the bread for the body. Feeding Five thousand men, beside women and children is just impossible for the disciples so they approached Jesus and requested him to dismiss the crowd. And Jesus commanded them to give them some food. We come to the Church like the crowd who followed Jesus. We come and listen to him because his words are life giving, but he is also aware that we are hungry not with the material food but with spiritual food. So he feeds us with his body and blood. Thus Jesus said, “Do not labor for food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life which the Son of man will give you.”(Jn6:27) He gives us his own body. It is the Sacrament of communion not the sacrament of the Crowd, journey in his footsteps, our unshakable faith in him, our eternal food. In the Gospel, Jesus asks the help from the disciples, likewise, Jesus asks the priest to celebrate Eucharistic celebration. In Jesus command, priest invites the people to sit down and hear the word of God and trusting in his word. Jesus anticipated the Eucharistic celebration by blessing five loaves and two fish. He took the bread and fish Said blessing, Broke them and, Gave them to his disciples to distribute. In the second reading (1Cor11:23-26) St. Paul gives an accurate description of last supper, that is how Jesus blessed the five loaves and two fish and it is how Jesus blessed the wine and bread at the last Supper. It is considered as the oldest account of the last Supper in the Scripture. We long for these real foods that sustain our life, Church’s life and we follow his path, with service, sharing and giving. Little we are but we share becomes wealth. We experience the power Love. Eucharist is the heart of the liturgy and our Christian life, if we remove our heart from our body, how can it be possible that we continue to live? Jesus is the Eucharist at the center of our lives. Is it possible that the Church exists without the Eucharist? He desires that we live each day with him making center of our lives, and the center our Church. Praise is an important aspect of raising a confident child. When you praise a child, not only do you raise their selfesteem and self-concept but you increase their overall selfworth. One thing you can do is focus on the child and describe what you see. For example, you can say: “You are so patient. That means a lot to your little brother.” ● Requirements: First Holy Communion ● Baptism Certificate Being in 1st grade or higher as of August 2016 ● $60 per year Confirmation Baptism and Communion certificate Being in 9th thru 11th grade as of August 2016 ● $200 per year ● ● We will no register any one without their proper certificates.
