Basada en sucesos reales. Modris, un joven de 17 años, no es ni mejor ni
peor que sus colegas. Su pequeño problema de adicción al juego hace
que la relación con su madre sea difícil. Viven solos y ella no pierde
oportunidad de recordarle que su padre está en prisión y él lleva sus malos
genes. Su tensa relación estalla cuando, en medio del invierno nórdico,
Modris empeña la estufa eléctrica. Su madre lo denuncia a la policía y
es sentenciado a dos años en libertad condicional. Así comienzan las
desventuras de Modris con la justicia letona junto con un nuevo objetivo:
encontrar al padre que nunca conoció.

Modris (17) is no better or worse than his peers. His small gambling addiction
makes his relationship with his mother difficult. The two of them live alone
and she doesn't miss a chance to remind him that his father is in prison and
that Modris has a bad gene. Their boiling relationship goes over the lid, when
Modris pawns his mother's electric heater. She betrays him to the police and
Modris is sentenced to two years probation. This is when his adventures with
the Latvian justice system start, along with the change of his relationship to
the outside world and his new goal: to find the father he has never met.

January 13th y Hackers. Modris es su primer
largometraje de ficción.

Juris Kursietis specialised in Film Directing
at the Northern Media School (UK). His
graduation film Will Have It Tomorrow
(2008), awakened public interest. Since
then, he has worked as assistant director
on several Latvian films and has directed
the documentary feature, The Escape from
Cuba, in addition to two medium - length
documentaries, January 13th and
Hackers. Modris is his first feature film.
