LEGALIZATION OF DOCUMENTS
(At the Consulate General of Chile in Chicago)
1.- Document must be signed before a Notary Public.
2.- The Secretary of State from one of the following States IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO,
NE, ND, OH, SD o WI must certify the signature of the Notary.
3.- Once the document bear both signatures (1 and 2) it must be sent to the Consulate General
of Chile for their legalization.
4.- This procedure has a fee of US$ 12 for each signature of Secretary of State, payable only
by Money Order made out to Consulate of Chile.
5.- A self-addressed stamped envelope must be included to return the legalized document.
IMPORTANT: When the duly legalized documents are received back, the interested person must
present them in Santiago, Chile for certification of Consul’s signature, in the Consular Department
(section Legalization) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, located at Agustinas 1320, Santiago, 1º
Floor (hours: 09:00 AM – 2:00 PM).

(En el Consulado General de Chile en Chicago)
1.- El documento tiene que estar firmado ante un Notario.
2.- El Secretario de Estado, de uno de los siguientes Estados IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, MI, MN,
MO, NE, ND, OH, SD o WI, debe certificar la firma del Notario.
3.- El documento debe tener ambas firmas (1 y 2) antes de enviarlo al Consulado para su
legalización.
4.- Valor por legalización US$ 12.00 (solo se reciben Money Order a “Consulate of Chile”).
5.- Incluir sobre estampillado con su nombre y dirección para poder devolverle el documento
una vez legalizado.
IMPORTANTE: Después que reciba los documentos debidamente legalizados, el interesado debe
presentarlos para la certificación de la firma del Cónsul, en el Departamento Consular (sección
Legalizaciones) del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Chile, ubicado en Agustinas 1320, Santiago,
Chile, 1º Piso (horario: 09:00 AM - 2:00 PM.).
