This training will explore and emphasize the difference between leading and managing staff through change. It will focus on being a leader in our profession and in ourselves. Participants will learn more effective ways to support the development of science skills in young children. Los niños son investigadores naturales. Presenter: Alicia McFarland, B.A., Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE) Twenty States are currently using a Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS). What does QRIS look like in Ventura County? This workshop will provide an overview of the QRIS and its implementation in Ventura County. 2. Moving Beyond Recess: The What, Why and How of the Outdoor Classroom. Presenter: Ellen Veselack, Associate Director for the Outdoor Classroom Project. This session will introduce the concept of the Outdoor Classroom, why it is vital for children to get connected with nature, and will explore a variety of activities they can do in their own outdoor spaces. 3. Overview of California Early Learning System. Presenter: Julie Parsons, M.A., Kern County Regional Lead California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN) Participants will become familiar with the State Department of Education’s Preschool Early Learning & Development System, and will better understand the connection between: Preschool Learning Foundations, Preschool Curriculum Framework, Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) access, Environmental Rating Scale and Pre-Kindergarten Developmental Guidelines and how they align with the Kindergarten Common Core Standards . 3. Loose Ends-Beyond the Paper Towel Roll. Presenters: CSUCI Instructors: Adria Taha-Resnick, M.A., & Bridget O’Malley, M.A. Join us in exploring the variety of ways you can use recyclable materials to support everyday learning and how to apply these ideas to the California Early Learning System. 4. Music and You: A symphony of User Friendly Music, Movement, and Literature. Presenter: Lakeshore Learning Materials Participants will explore different activities in how to engage the child and music and movement to enrich the entire curriculum. “You-ser friendly” activities will be shares to connect songs to a simple educational activity. 5. “Desarrollo Infantil de 0-3 años en Imágenes.” (Spanish only/Solamente en español) Presenter: Pablo Velez , Amigo Baby CEO/Program Director Este taller cubrirá problemas más frecuentes del desarrollo tales como dificultades sensoriales, de lenguaje, movimiento y comportamiento con imágenes. Como estar al tanto de estas necesidades en los niños y poder compartirlo con los padres. Además los recursos dentro de la comunidad para evaluar al niño y como los intervencionistas desarrollan un Plan Familiar de Desarrollo de Infantes (IFSP) para apoyar a la familia y proveedores de cuidado de niños. 4. California’s Infant Toddler Learning and Development System. Presenter: Barbara Best, MA, California Regional Coordinator, PITC, Partners for Quality. Participants will explore and become familiar with how to use the California Infant/Toddler Curriculum Framework in the cycle of observing, documenting, reflecting, and implementing appropriate curriculum. They will learn how this system supports the work of Teachers, Administrators, and Family Child Care Providers. 5. CLASS Manejo de la Conducta: ¿Qué Hacer para Asistir en el Comportamiento de los Niños? (Spanish only/español solamente) Presentador: Brenda Guzmán, VCOE-ECP Este taller se enfocará en un método proactivo y positivo para el manejo del salón para promover relaciones socio emocionales positivas con los niños.
