Swishahouse will highlight “The Summer Heat”
hip-hop festival slated for Saturday, July 5, at the
Casa Blanca Convention Center.
The Color Changing Click will illuminate the rap
climax of the event.
The indoor/outdoor event is scheduled to start at
noon and end at midnight.
Twelve rap groups are scheduled to perform on
separate stages. Chingo Bling will host the event.
A car show will feature Euro cars, custom and
semi-custom cars, as well as low rider cars. Door
prizes will be given. Several contests will be held
including a freestyle contest.
Co-host and event director, Juan Gonzalez, who
owned and operated Urban City in a local shopping
mall said that he hasn’t forgotten about his Laredo
peeps. He now runs his hip apparel shop in a San
Antonio shopping mall.
“I’m taking the big bash to Laredo because I
basically owe Laredo. The city’s response to my
shop in Laredo jumpstarted my success,”
Gonzalez said. “I know what all my loyal Laredo
customers like and I will deliver.”
Gonzalez said that all of the groups performing in
Laredo are excited to visit the Gateway City,
including Paul Wall.
Wall, once featured in ¿Que Pasa? International,
was a Swishahouse recruit. Now, Wall and his
close friend Chamillionaire make up the group
Color Changing Click. The duo also has been
featured in rap magazines such as The Source and
XXL.
Other groups that will be performing are Dope
House Records artists, Baby Beesh, Rasheed,
Juan Gotti and Grimm. From Swishahouse, Color
Changing Click, 3rd Degree, Texas Made, Kinto Sol,
Finger Made Productions, DSR, 4 Corner Hustlaz,
Underground Committee, I-35 Boys and Tone City
Records.
Special guest DJ’s will be Michael “5000” Watts,
DJ Bizzy, DJ Trouble and DJ Citi.
Pre-sale tickets are $8 and $15 at the door.
