Il est important de comprendre que d'autres facteurs, notamment si l'utilisateur effectue le travail en position
debout, accroupie ou couchée ou si l'utilisateur travaille directement en dessous du point d'ancrage ou en
angle, peuvent avoir une incidence sur la distance de chute lors de l'utilisation d'un appareil rétractable.
Le calcul de la distance de dégagement de chute lié au cordage de sécurité auto-rétractable est fait
en prenant pour acquis que l'utilisateur est debout. Si l'utilisateur effectuera du travail en position
accroupie ou agenouillée, une distance de dégagement de chute supplémentaire de 3 pieds (0,9 m) est
requise. Si l'utilisateur effectuera du travail en position couchée, une distance de dégagement de chute
supplémentaire de 5 pieds (1,5 m) est requise.
Le calcul de la distance de dégagement de chute lié au cordage de sécurité auto-rétractable est également
fait en prenant pour acquis que l'utilisateur travaille directement en dessous du point d'ancrage, ce qui
réduit toute possibilité de chute en basculant. Dans une situation de chute en basculant, la distance de
dégagement de chute totale sera supérieure à celle qui aurait prévalu si l'utilisateur travaillait directement
en dessous du point d'ancrage. Dans certains cas, il peut s'avérer impossible de travailler directement en
dessous du point d'ancrage. Lorsque cette situation se présente, le travailleur doit augmenter la distance
