‘Enjoy the Process. Enjoy the Moment’
What a great month of April we had at Prairie. Our 7th and 8th grade students took the
PARCC and CMAS tests and used it as an opportunity to see what progress they’ve made and
what work lies ahead. Prairie students were featured on a video talking about engineering
and future possibilities produced by the National Science Foundation. Our choir and
orchestra departments went to music festivals and earned ‘Superior’ ratings in every
category from every judge. Our spring musical, Legally Blonde, was a show our community
will be talking about for a long time. The cast of fifty-seven students and our teachers left
the audience amazed at what middle school students can produce. Prairie students
continue to show what we’re capable of in the classroom, the lab, and on the stage.
All of these examples of achievement are the results of time, support, learning, and hard
work. We understand that these variables are critical in the growth of our students. How
we take advantage of the time we have in school (and life), the degree to what we teach and
support our kids with, and the will and desire to work hard will result in learning and
achievements that will astound. This is the process we strive for at Prairie. This is the
process we’ve been working on all year.
The month of May is the culmination of this process. This month brings all the culminating
events of our school year, including many performances, our school carnival, 8th grade
celebrations, and our academic awards. This is the time that we need to pause and reflect
on the work that we’ve accomplished this year and plan for the work that lies ahead next
year. Amidst all the busyness that the month of May brings, I ask you to stop and enjoy the
moment.
Join us during the first week of the month as we recognize our teachers during Teacher
Appreciation Week. Every day our teachers work hard for our children. What a great
reason for us to say Thanks! Speaking of teachers, join me in thanking Ms. Alison Burton as
she retires from education, having spent 18 years serving the kids and community of
Prairie. Come out for our choir, band, or orchestra concerts. As I stated earlier, we are not
the only ones who think they are superior…
Come and celebrate with our entire community as we host our PTCO school carnival on
Friday, May 13. This is a great time to meet up with friends, neighbors and staff. And
finally, we will have our 8th grade end-of-the-year assembly on Wednesday, May 25. This is
our farewell to a class that has set new standards of excellence at Prairie. We think they’ve
proven they are now ready to be Trailblazers. We will also celebrate our 6th and 7th graders
with their academic ceremonies on Friday, May 27th.
At Prairie, there will always be a lot of hard work ahead and times to look forward to. We
must remember to always enjoy the process and enjoy the moment. Thanks for helping us
make May, and our year, a great moment for Prairie.

"Disfrutar del proceso. Disfrute del momento"
Qué gran mes de abril el que tuvimos en Prairie. Nuestros alumnos de 7mo y 8vo grado tomaron las
pruebas de PARCC y CMAS y lo utilizaron como una oportunidad para ver qué progresos han hecho y
qué trabajo queda por delante. Los estudiantes de Prairie fueron presentados en un video hablando
sobre ingeniería y futuras posibilidades producidas por el National Science Foundation.( Fundación
Nacional de Ciencias) Nuestros departamentos de coro y orquesta fueron a festivales de música y
obtuvieron la clasificacione 'Superior' en cada categoría de cada juez. Nuestra primavera musical,
Legally Blonde, fue una demostración del cual nuestra comunidad hablara durante mucho tiempo. El
elenco de cincuenta y siete estudiantes y nuestros profesores dejó al público sorprendido con lo que
los estudiantes de secundaria pueden producir. Los estudiantes de Prairie continúan mostrando de lo
que somos capaces en el salon de clases, el laboratorio y el escenario.
Todos estos ejemplos de logros son el resultado de tiempo, apoyo, aprendizaje y trabajo duro.
Entendemos que estos variables son fundamentales en el crecimiento de nuestros estudiantes. Cómo
aprovechemos el tiempo que tenemos en la escuela (y de vida), al grado de lo que enseñan y nuestros
hijos con la ayuda, voluntad y con ganas de trabajar duro resultará en aprendizaje y logros que se
sorprenderán. Este es el proceso que anhelamos en Prairie. Este es el proceso en cual estado
trabajando todo el año.
El mes de mayo es la culminación de este proceso. Este mes trae todos los acontecimientos
culminantes de nuestro año escolar, incluyendo varias actuaciones, nuestro carnaval escolar,
celebraciones del 8vo grado y nuestros premios académicos. Este es el tiempo que necesitamos para
hacer una pausa y reflexionar sobre el trabajo que hemos realizado este año y planear para el trabajo
que nos depara el próximo año. En medio del ajetreo que trae el mes de mayo, les pido a detenerse y
disfrutar el momento.
Acompáñenos durante la primera semana del mes mientras reconocemos a nuestros profesores
durante la Semana de la Apreciación al Profesor. Cada día nuestros profesores trabajan mucho para
nuestros estudiantes. ¡Qué mejor razón para que nosotros digamos Gracias! Hablando de profesores,
acompáñeme en el agradecimiento a la Sra. Alison Burton mientras se retira de la educación, despues
de haber servido 18 años a los niños y a la comunidad de Prairie. Venga y acompañe a de nuestro
coro, grupo o conciertos de la orquesta. Como declaré antes, no somos los único quienes creemos que
somos superior…
Venga y celebre con toda nuestra comunidad y mire como anfitriamos nuestro carnvala de PTCO el
viernes 13 de mayo. Este es un buen momento para reunirse con los amigos, los vecinos y el personal.
Finalmente, tendremos nuestra Asamblea de final de año para el 8vo grado. Esto sera el miércoles, 25
de mayo. Esta es nuestra despedida de una clase que ha establecido nuevos estándares de excelencia
en Prairie. Creemos que se ha comprobado que ahora están listos para ser pioneros. También vamos
a celebrar nuestro 6º y 7º grado con su ambiente académico las ceremonias seran el viernes, 27 de
mayo.
En Prairie, siempre habrá mucho trabajo por delante y tiempos para mirar al futuro. Debemos de
siempre recordar y disfrutar el proceso y disfrutar del momento. Gracias por ayudarnos a hacer de
mayo y nuestro año, un gran momento para Prairie.
