espacio blanco para toda la nieve Turkar Gasimzada Cincinnati/2011 2 Program notes This piece is composed for the "15-Minutes-of-Fame" project and dedicated to pianist Shiau-uen Ding. The composition is a musical response to the poem “El future es espacio” by Pablo Neruda. The selected part of the poem indicates the structure of the composition. Every eight note rhythmic division is applied to each syllable from Neruda’s text. Pianist is whispering the lines from the text for appropriate bars of music and the text becomes the background consisting of blurry/cloud-colored whispering sound texture for the traditional music sounds. Following are the selected part from the poem and its English translation: el futuro es espacio, espacio color de tierra, color de nube, color de agua, de aire, espacio negro para muchos sueños, espacio blanco para toda la nieve, para toda la música. the future is space, earth-colored space, cloud-colored, color of water, air, black space with room for many dreams, white space with room for all snow, for all music. Performance notes 1. Pianist while playing should whisper simultaneously the text in boxes placed and shown appropriately in the score. Intelligibility of the recited text for the audience is less important than the audibility of its specific sound traits. 2. Pianist holds down the pedal and lets piano strings resonate and sounds eventually fade out for not more than 3 seconds in bars without any note and rest. 3 espacio blanco para toda la nieve dedicated to Shiau-uen Ding ( poem by Pablo Neruda ) Turkar Gasimzada q.
