1. Community events
There were a good number of volunteers who signed up to help FOA at the Open House. FOA will follow
up with them as the events they volunteered to help with approach.
The Hispanic Heritage fiesta will be Friday, October 16, 2015. It will be a potluck from 6-8pm. With such
short notice, there may not be as many school-related performances or presentations, but the committee
will contact the new social/cultural events committee for input. The 8th grade will be selling Amigos
merchandise.
FOA will pay for the childcare costs for the first mindfulness presentation this month. It may become selfsustaining if people who utilize the service are willing to make donations. This event will be open the
larger community.
There will be an international night, tentatively scheduled for February, to celebrate the many different
and vibrant cultures that make up the Amigos school. The hope is that each country represented may
present music, dancing or food from their country. The visionaries behind this night are currently seeking
a point person to coordinate each country. FOA may post a sign up sheet on the FOA notice board and
send it through the room parent network.
FOA is actively recruiting parents and families to work with them in order to make the organization more
sustainable and vibrant. They will reach out again to the volunteers who signed up at the Open House. It
is also worth investigating whether or not there may be room for a bulletin board closer to the front door
or outside the building.
2. Fundraising campagin
Some changes to the annual appeal fundraising drive were discussed. Would it be possible to send an
electronic thank you note rather than handwriting each one? Is that appropriate? Could we get an extra
set of labels for the thank you cards to eliminate the addressing of each envelope on the thank you cards?
Would having nonprofit status with the US Postal Service benefit FOA? FOA will need to order more thank
you cards this year. There were several people who volunteered to help with the annual appeal this year,
and FOA will gladly take their assistance!
3. Budget review
FOA reviewed an updated budget. Requests for funding are coming in from the teachers, and FOA has
some reserve funds to cover expenses until the annual appeal letters go out.

1. Eventos Communitarios
Muchas personas se inscribieron durante el Open House para ayudar de voluntarios en eventos que FOA
vaya a organizar. FOA se estará comunicando con ellos a medida que se aproxima la fecha del evento para
el cual se incribieron.
La fiesta de la Herencia Hispana será el Viernes, 16 de Octubre. Habrá comida para compartir/potluck de
las 6 a las 8 de la noche. Debido al anuncio de última hora, no esperamos mucha participación de los
estudiantes con presentaciones escolares. El comité de FOA discutirá ideas con el reciente comité de
eventos sociales y culturales. Los alumnus de 8vo estarán vendiendo mercancia de Amigos.
FOA cubrirá los costos del cuidado de los niños durante el primer seminario de mente plena este año,
mindfulness. Podria sostenerse a si mismo si los asistentes al este programa dieran donaciones. Este
evento esta abierto a toda la comunidad.
Habrá una noche internacional, tentativamente en Febrero, donde celebraremos las diferentes culturas
que constituyen la escuela Amigos. Esperamos que cada pais presente su musica, bailes o folclor, o su
comida tipica. En este momento, los organizadores del evento estan buscando una persona que coordine
los eventos de cada pais. FOA podría diseñar un formulario de inscripción que sería publicado en el boletín
de noticias de FOA, o enviado a traves de los padres guias en cada salón.
FOA está recrutando padres y familias para que se unan a la organización y de esta manera darle
sostenibilidad y dinamismo al grupo. Se contactará nuevamente a los voluntaries inscritos durante la Open
House. Sería interesante investigar la posibilidad de poner nuestro boletin de noticias más cerca de la
puerta de entrada, o afuera de la escuela.
2. Campaña de Recaudación de Fondos
Se discutieron algunos cambios a la campaña anual. Sería posible enviar una nota de agradecimiento
electrónica, en vez de una de puño y letra? Sería apropiado? Podrímos conseguir letreros pre-impresos
para las notas de agradecimiento, y asi eliminar llenar cada nota manualmente? Sería conveniente tener
un acuerdo con la oficina postal como entidad sin animo de lucro? FOA va a necesitar mas notas de
agradecimiento este año, comparado con el año pasado. Varias personas ayudaron el año pasado, y este
año recibiríamos su ayuda con mucho gusto también!
3. Presupuesto
FOA revisó el presupuesto actualizado para este año. Se están recibiendo solicitudes de fondos de los
profesores, y FOA tiene una reserva de fondos para cubrir gastos hasta que las cartas solicitando
donaciones sean distribuídas.
