and fulfill his purpose by being there for each other.”
Stewardship should play a role in everyone’s life, every
day.
Ms. Metzinger’s advice to parishioners of all ages is:
“God loves you infinitely; he put you here at this time in
history, at this place in Dallas, at Holy Trinity for a
reason. He has something for you to do.” Sit down and
talk to Jesus and ask, “What do you want me to do?”
“So, What’s God Calling You To Do?”
In the early 1980’s, Janie Metzinger, came from Wichita
Falls, Texas, to help her sister to prepare for her
wedding at Holy Trinity. Later, Janie decided to get her
Master’s degree in Healthcare from the University of
North Texas, so she moved to Dallas and began her long
relationship with the Holy Trinity Parish.
She decided to stay at Holy Trinity because of the
Vincentian way of living the gospel. This commitment to
the gospel and dedication to the poor makes the gospel
real in life, which fits naturally into Janie’s deep belief of
service to others and her keen sense of justice.
Ms. Metzinger has served in many volunteer capacities
while at Holy Trinity. In her early years she joined the
Single’s Group, sang in the choir, taught ESL and
citizenship classes. She also served on the Parish
Council.
Currently, Janie dedicates her time to serving on the
newly formed Task Force, Co-chairs the Welcoming
Ministry, and is a Greeter. She finds time to coordinate
the Spiritual Reading Group on Sunday mornings from
9:30 to 10:30 (if you’re interested contact Janie for
details), and Wednesday’s Bible study. She also
launders the Altar linens.
Asked where she would like to see Holy Trinity in ten to
twenty years, Janie’s responded that she would like to
see the parish community and parents think about and
put into action a program to create a vibrant and active
youth community. “Young people matter and like to do
things that matter.” Janie thinks the volunteers working
with the youth should keep service and social justice in
mind as they train teens to be active participants in the
church now and in the future.
Janie was very adamant that stewardship should be:
“Being at the service of God, being open to God’s
To parishioners of all ages who feel they don’t have the
skills or too afraid to offer their talents to the parish,
Janie quotes Jeremiah 1: 6-8, when Jeremiah tells God
he is too young to speak to the people and God
responded: “Say not I am too young” To whomever I
send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you
shall speak. Have no fear before them, because I am
with you to deliver you, says the Lord.”
Janie staunchly believes in prayer and asks that you
pray for the parish and its leaders and just ask, “What
am I supposed to do?” She grinned and remarked:
“Maybe there’s someone out there who can make the
youth group happen.”
Ms. Metzinger firmly believes that every single person is
called by God, every day and everything we do should
be living for the glory of God. “So”, she asks, “what’s
God calling you to do?” Make it count!

A principios de los 1980’s, Janie Metzinger, vino de

coordinar el Grupo de Lectura Espiritual los domingos

el estudio de la Biblia. También lava los manteles del
altar.
Al preguntársele cómo le gustaría ver a Holy Trinity en
diez a veinte años, Janie respondió que le gustaría ver a
la comunidad parroquial y padres pensar sobre y poner
en acción un programa para una activa y vibrante
comunidad juvenil. “Las personas jóvenes importan y
les gusta hacer cosas que importen.” Janie piensa que
los voluntarios que trabajaban con la juventud deben
mantener en mente el servicio y la justicia social según
entrenan a los adolescentes a ser miembros activos de
la Iglesia ahora y en le futuro.
Janie fue muy firme en que la mayordomía debe ser:
“estar al servicio de Dios, estando abiertos a la dirección
de Dios, compartiendo el tiempo, los talentos y los
dones; siguiendo su dirección y cumpliendo su
propósito al hacerse presente para cada uno.” La
mayordomía debe tener un papel en la vida de cada
uno, cada día.
El consejo de Ms. Metzinger a los feligreses de todas las
edades es: “Dios te ama infinitamente; Te puso aquí en
este momento de la historia, en este lugar en Dallas, en
Holy Trinity por alguna razón. Él tiene algo para tú
hacer”. Siéntate y habla con Jesús y pregúntale, “¿Qué
quieres que yo haga?”

tú la dirás. No tengas miedo ante ellos, porque yo estoy
contigo para dotarte, dice el Señor.”
Janie cree firmemente en la oración y pide que tú ores
por la parroquia y sus líderes y sólo te preguntes “¿Qué
se supone que haga?” Ella sonrió y dijo: “Quizás hay
alguien por ahí que podría ser quien hará realidad el
que exista el grupo de jóvenes.”
Ms. Metzinger cree firmemente que cada una de las
personas está llamada por Dios, cada día y todo lo que
hacemos debe ser vivir para la gloria de Dios.
“Entonces” ella pregunta, “¿qué es lo que Dios te está
pidiendo que hagas?” ¡Haz que cuente!
