Requisitos para obtener en Línea los Certificados de Nacimiento, Matrimonio,
Defunción y Natimuerto.
Base legal:
La Ley núm. 24 del 22 de abril de 1931, según enmendada del Registro Demográfico define término
“parte interesada” como la persona inscrita si es mayor de edad, madre, padre, representante legal o
herederos(as). Parte interesada será además la señalada por el Tribunal y según la ley 191 del 22 de
diciembre de 2009 menores de edad que hayan procreado hijos(as).
Requisitos:
1. Haber nacido en Puerto Rico.
2. Cuenta de correo electrónico activa.
3. Tener tarjeta de crédito Visa/Master Card para procesar pago.
4. Identificación vigente con foto en formato digital (licencia de conducir o pasaporte).

Los formatos de los documentos deberán ser únicamente JPEG/JPG, PDF.
6. Si es veterano(a) deberá presentar también copia digital del Formulario 214(Discharge). SOLO
APLICA A VETERANOS(AS) RESIDENTES EN PUERTO RICO.
7. El certificado de nacimiento será enviado por correo regular a la dirección indicada en la
solicitud a partir del 1 de julio de 2010. Lo recibirá de 4 a 6 semanas aproximadamente.
8. Si la persona que aplica es mujer y en la identificación tiene apellido de casada, deberá enviar
copia del certificado de matrimonio.
9. Si un(a) hijo(a) solicita para sus padres, debe enviar copia de su certificado de nacimiento donde
se evidencie que son sus padres.

Legal Basis:
The Law No. 24 of April 22, 1931, as amended, of the Demographic Registry defines the term
"interested party" as the registrant if it is of legal age, mother, father, legal representative or heirs.
The interested party will also be identified by the Court and, according to Law 191 of December
22, 2009, minors who have children.
Requirements:

Being born in Puerto Rico.

An active email account.

A valid credit card (Visa or Master Card) for payment.

A valid identification with photo in digital format (driver's license or passport).

The format of the documents should be JPEG, JPG or PDF only. The file should not be
greater than 1 mb.

Veterans should submit a digital copy of Form 214 to obtain a free certificate. ONLY
APPLIES TO RESIDENTS IN PUERTO RICO.

The birth certificate will be sent by mail to the direction provided, from July 1, 2010. The
certificate delays from 6 to 8 weeks to be sent.

If the person that requests is a woman, and in its identification has her married name, should
send a copy of the marriage certificate

If a child requests a birth certificate for their parents, should send copy of its own birth
certificate that shows that these are its parents.
