La Porte ISD prepares for the start of the 2016-17 school year

La Porte ISD is preparing to welcome students back to school next week. The
2016-17 school year begins for high school freshmen on Tuesday, Aug. 23, while all
other LPISD students head back to class on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
Back-to-school information such as school supply lists, school calendars,
immunization requirements, breakfast and lunch prices, dress code, and more are
available on the LPISD website at www.lpisd.org under “News and Announcements.”
Bus route information for the 2016-17 school year is now available on the
Transportation page. A link to the page may be found with the back-to-school
information. Families that have moved to a different location over the summer should
contact their respective campuses so that transportation arrangements may be made.
School hours are 7:50 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. for elementary campuses; 8:25 a.m. to
3:45 p.m. for the James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus and the junior high schools;
and 7:16 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. for the high schools.

Meet and Greet sessions scheduled for elementary campuses on Aug. 22
La Porte ISD elementary schools will hold “Meet and Greet” sessions for
students and their parents on Monday, Aug. 22.
The event will provide families with the opportunity to meet their child’s teachers
and drop off school supplies prior to the first day of school. At some locations, spirit
shirts and other items will be available for purchase.
Below is a list of times for the “Meet and Greet” sessions:
Bayshore Elementary--4:30 to 6 p.m.
College Park Elementary, 1st through 5th grades—9 a.m., 1 p.m., or 5 p.m.
(Sessions for kindergartners, pre-kindergartners and students in the Preschool
Program for Students with Disabilities will be by appointment.)
Heritage Elementary—4 to 6 p.m.
Jennie Reid Elementary—5 to 6:30 p.m.
La Porte Elementary—4 to 5:30 p.m.
Leo A. Rizzuto Elementary—5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Lomax Elementary—4:30 to 6 p.m.

La Porte-Bayshore Chamber of Commerce welcomes new teachers

District readies for opening of new and renovated facilities

Work begins on the new science and math classroom facility at La Porte High School. The new
