Decolonization of Western Sahara, guarantee of Peace and Stability

We are pleased to inform you that we are organizing a new edition of the
EUCOCO. The 40th International Conference of Solidarity and Support to the
Saharawi People will be held on 13 and 14 November in Madrid, at the Agustín
Camacho Auditorium belonging to the Comisiones Obreras trade union (CCOO).
It has now been 40 years since the ruling by the International Court of
Justice in The Hague, 40 years since Morocco’s famous “Green March”, 40 years
since Morocco’s military occupation and 40 years since the abandonment of
Saharawi People by the Spanish State. During these 40 years, none of the
successive Spanish governments has assumed its responsibility, in the same way
that the United Nations and other key Governments have not fulfilled their
obligations and assumed their role in ensuring respect for International Law.
Injustice, illegality and occupation must come to an end. It is time to open a
new page in history and assume responsibilities. The 40th EUCOCO in Madrid will
be the best place to do it, as it was in Madrid where 40 years ago, on those same
dates, the illegal Tripartite Accords were signed, by virtue of which Western Sahara
was handed over to Morocco and Mauritania.
For all these reasons, we encourage you to support and participate in this
relevant Conference, showing your commitment to justice and human rights and
your solidarity with the Saharawi People.
