Estimados Padres de Familia de Middle School,
Hoy y mañana nuestros estudiantes estarán tomando un importante examen llamado
“Writing Assessment Program (WrAP)”. Esta evaluación está diseñada para medir las
habilidades de nuestros estudiantes al escribir en inglés. La evaluación se basa en 6
cualidades que tienen como fin evaluar una buena escritura. Dichas cualidades son:
desarrollo global, organización, sustento, estructura oracional, vocabulario y mecánica.
La evaluación se lleva a cabo en 2 días, hoy y mañana. En esta evaluación se les
solicitará a los estudiantes escribir de una manera organizada un ensayo pensado
cuidadosamente, basado en los temas que puede encontrar en la parte de abajo. El
primer día los estudiantes leerán los temas, organizarán sus ideas y comenzarán a resumir
y construir su ensayo. El segundo día, ellos continuarán refinando sus ideas para escribir
su ensayo. Así mismo, ellos podrán hacer uso de diferentes diccionarios, los cuales
estarán disponibles en el salón de clases.

puntuación que un estudiante puede recibir es de 36 puntos, pudiendo
cada categoría una puntuación entre 1-6. Además de los resultados
que recibimos por cada estudiante, también podemos comparar nuestro
total, por grado, con otros colegios y escuelas preparatorias de Estados
Solicitamos su ayuda para animar a su hijo/hija a pensar detenida y profundamente
acerca de los temas. Por favor compartan y comenten los temas durante las comidas, o
el tiempo que estén juntos, e investiguen acerca del tema , para que los niños puedan
coordinar todas sus ideas y desarrollar su ensayo. La participación de los padres de
familia en este proceso es totalmente permitida, de acuerdo a los lineamientos del examen
WrAP.
Tema para 5º y 6º gradoImagina tener la oportunidad de crear tu propio país y de ser la reina o el rey de esta
tierra. Describe tu país, y asegúrate de incluir detalles que puedan ayudar a tus lectores a
sentir como si estuvieran visitando una tierra maravillosa.

Tema para 7º y 8º grado-
Un amigo tuyo que vive en otro país va a venir a tu ciudad para una ocasión especial. Él o
ella te contactan para pedirte información sobre cosas qué hacer o ver durante su visita.
Piensa en diferentes actividades o lugares que tu amigo debería considerar en visitar y
que quizá puedan ser divertidas o diferentes, y explica por qué piensas que serían
divertidos.

Dear Middle School Parents,
Today and tomorrow our middle school students will write an important standardized test
this week called the Writing Assessment Program (WrAP). This assessment is designed
to measure our students’ English writing skills on 6 qualities of good writing: overall
development, organization, support, sentence structure, word choice and mechanics.
The two-day assessment asks students to write a well-organized, thoughtful essay on the
prompts you’ll find below. The first day, students read the prompt, organize their
thoughts and begin to make an outline of their essay. The second day, they continue to
refine their ideas and then write their essay making full use of the dictionaries and
thesauruses we provide in the classroom.
Along with individual results we receive for each student that provide raw scores from 16 in each category (a total possible score of 36), we are also able to compare our overall
performance at each grade level with other college preparatory schools in the U.S.
We ask you to help by encouraging your child to think deeply about the prompt, talk it
over with you at the dinner table, research the topic and articulate their ideas for the
essay. This added involvement from parents is fully acceptable within the testing
guidelines of WrAP.

Prompt for 5th and 6th GradersImagine having the chance to create your own country and to be the queen or king this
land. Describe your country, and be sure to include details to help your readers feel like
they have come for a visit to a wonderful land.
Prompt for 7th and 8th GradersA friend of yours who lives in another country is coming to your town for a special
occasion. He or she contacts you for information about things to do or see during the
visit. Think of several activities or sights your friend should consider that might be fun or
different, and explain why you think they would be enjoyable.
