September 1, 2011 Dear Parents/Guardians: Please fill out the attached survey and return it to school with your child no later than September 8th. All of the information you provide will be kept confidential, the information you provide is used within our school, we only submit a summary of the responses to the state. Each year Saint Francis International School is able to obtain money and services from Montgomery County Public Schools for our children under Titles I, IIA, and III of the No Child Left Behind Act. Through the No Child Left Behind Act, students in private and religious schools are guaranteed access to certain support services, however, the law makes it clear that the private schools and parents have the obligation of seeking the aid from the public schools. The information provided on this survey also allows us to obtain books and materials from the State of Maryland under the non-public school textbook loan program. This year we are receiving over $100,000 in funds, materials, and services from the government paid for with your tax dollars. It is vital that we maintain this level of support, but we can only do it with your cooperation. The way in which we work with Montgomery County Public Schools and the State of Maryland to determine how much aid and services our students are eligible to receive is by asking families to complete surveys that ask questions about financial status, residency, immigrant background, and language(s) spoken in the home. We need to have all families, regardless of their income level, county of residence, or other characteristics, to provide this important information so that we can obtain as much aid as possible. The aid we receive whether in funding, materials, or services helps us to keep our tuition affordable while also providing you and your children with as much support as we possible can. If you need assistance completing your forms, do not hesitate to contact the school office for help.
