Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Happy Father’s Day to all fathers,
grandfathers and fathers in faith! We
thank you for being an example in the
home and in the community. Family
life entails joys, sorrows and sacrifices.
Being faithful through it requires personal strength and faith. My father is
deceased now for nine years. He was a wonderful man
and I still feel close to him as he celebrates his eternal
life with my mom.
This week we celebrate another great man and saint,
Saint John the Baptist. He prepared the way for the
Lord. He is so incredibly significant that two days of the
week are devoted to him, the vigil on June 23rd and the
actual celebration of his feast on June 24th. His father
Zachary went through an ordeal when he doubted that a
child could be born to him in his old age and he was
struck dumb by God. He redeemed himself in the end
giving the name John to his newborn. The thread of
humanness and weakness exists over all the eras of
humanity. It is a great comfort to realize that God forgives and loves us through all of the varied courses we
may choose on our journey of life.
Summer officially begins this Sunday. May these summer days provide opportunities to enjoy family time.
Just a reminder that Pope Francis will visit our country
for the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia,
September 22-27. Pope Francis is committed to share
the support of Church for the spiritual well-being of
families throughout the world. Family life needs togetherness. Years ago there was a special saying: The Family that prays together, stays together. I believe there is
truth in that statement.
Our own Diocese is sponsoring a Diocesan Gathering
of Families at Camp Tekakwitha in Shawano on Saturday, August 29th. Please consider participating in this
day. It will include a bilingual Mass with Bishop Ricken
as celebrant.
May you enjoy the unexpected and find surprises of
beauty and happiness as you travel this summer!

PROGRAMA DISCÍPULOS DE CRISTO
Discípulos de Cristo es un programa diocesano
de formación para ministerio dentro de la Iglesia. Es
para hombres y mujeres que desean servir a la Iglesia de la Diócesis de Green Bay. Consiste en cursos de 6 semanas a lo largo de tres años de septiembre a marzo. Los cursos cubren temas como:
• Escritura del Antiguo y Nuevo Testamento
• Moralidad
• Sacramentos
• Liturgia
• Oración y Espiritualidad
Si desea más información sobre este programa,
puede consultar con la Hna. Patricia en la Oficina
Parroquial o con uno de las varias personas de
nuestra parroquia que se han graduado del programa. (Hna. Patricia puede ponerse en contacto con
uno de ellos.) Es una oportunidad maravillosa para
aprender más de nuestra fe y prepararse para ser

Mensaje de Nuestra Líder Pastoral
Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
¡Feliz Día del Padre a todos los
padres, abuelos y padres en la fe! Les
agradecemos por ser un buen ejemplo
en el hogar y en la comunidad. La
vida familiar implica alegrías, tristezas
y sacrificios. Ser fieles a lo largo de
ella requiere fe y fuerza personal. Mi padre falleció
hace nueve años. Él fue un hombre maravilloso y aun
me siento cerca de él mientras celebra su vida eterna
con mi madre.
Esta semana celebramos otro gran hombre y Santo,
San Juan Bautista. Él preparó el camino para el
Señor. Él es tan increíblemente importante que dos
días de la semana están dedicados a él, la vigilia el 23
de junio y la celebración actual de su fiesta el 24 de
junio. Su padre Zacarías pasó por una dura
experiencia cuando dudó que podría dar vida a un
niño en su vejez y por ello Dios lo hizo mudo. Se
redimió al final dando el nombre de Juan a su recién
nacido. El hilo de humanidad y debilidad existe en
todas las eras de la humanidad. Es un gran consuelo
darnos cuenta de que Dios perdona y nos ama a través
de toda la variedad de caminos que podemos elegir en
nuestro peregrinaje por la vida.
La estación de verano comienza oficialmente este
domingo. Que estos días de verano brinden
oportunidades para disfrutar de tiempo con la familia.
Les hago un sencillo recordatorio de que el Papa
Francisco visitará nuestro país para el encuentro
mundial de las familias en Filadelfia, del 22 al 27 de
septiembre. El Papa Francisco está dedicado a dar
apoyo por medio de la Iglesia para el bienestar
espiritual de las familias en todo el mundo. La vida
familiar necesita unidad. Hace años había un dicho
especial: “La familia que ora unida, permanece
unida.” Creo que hay verdad en esa afirmación.
Nuestra propia Diócesis está patrocinando un
encuentro Diocesano de Familias en el Campamento
Tekakwitha, Shawano el sábado 29 de agosto. Por
favor considere participar en este día. Incluirá una
Misa bilingüe con el Obispo Ricken como celebrante.
¡Que disfruten de lo inesperado y encuentren
sorpresas de felicidad y belleza en el transcurso de sus
viajes este verano!

SÉ UN PADRE PRESENTE,
TU FAMILIA TE ESPERA.
El Papa Francisco en su catequesis semanal
recordó a los padres de lo importante que son en la
unidad familiar. En el pasado los niños fueron criados bajo un gobierno autoritario. En algunos casos
esto fue muy pesado, pero ahora lo que vemos en los
hogares está al otro extremo. Algunos padres están
ausentes del hogar totalmente mientras que otros
pasan todo su tiempo en el trabajo. Es necesario
encontrar un equilibrio. Los niños necesitan un
camino por la vida junto a alguien en quien puedan
confiar y recibir respuestas a sus preguntas sobre la
vida. Felicidades en este Día del Padre y que
Dios los bendiga, padres de familias.
