1. JUSTIFICACIÓN CURSO
El estudio de América Latina es una parte esencial en las Relaciones Internacionales,
como parte del programa de Negocios Internacionales, ya que provee al estudiante con
un conocimiento específico de esta región, los diferentes países que la componen y su
inserción internacional. Adicionalmente, América Latina y su futuro juegan un papel
fundamental en las relaciones exteriores colombianas, en todas sus dimensiones,
incluyendo la política, social, comercial y económica. Esto sólo podrá ser alcanzado a
través de un acercamiento histórico a la realidad latinoamericana, comenzando con una
perspectiva política y lugo desde un punto de vista económico, como condición para
adquirir una visión panorámica de esta parte del hemisferio occidental y su rol en el
complejo sistema de las Relaciones Internacionales, especialmente hoy cuando el
mundo requiere de profesionales que comprendan, desde otras perspectivas, el alto
nivel de interdependencia que caracteriza la red internacional de conexiones
económicas, políticas y de negocios. El estudio de América Latina también requiere del
análisis de influencias específicas por parte de otros países en la región. Potencias
tradicionales e históricas como España, Francia, Reino Unido y los Estados Unidos, y
recientemente países como China e India han influenciado la evolución de la región y su
participación en el sistema internacional.Las críticas estructuras internas y los patrones
de comportamiento también serán analizados , el estudio de América Latina se convierte
en algo más que la suma de sus conexiones con potencias extranjeras. Sin embargo, el
factor dependiente de estos sistemas resaltan las confusas barreras entre los sistemas
políticos domésticos y el sistema internacional al que se encuentran suscritos.
2. OBJETIVOS GENERALES DEL CURSO
2.1.
Analizar desde una perspectiva crítica las interacciones políticas, económicas y
socio-culturales que existen entre los países latinoamericanos; permitiendo al
estudiante identificar los retos principales para la región en el contexto de las
relaciones internacionales contemporáneas.

Analizar cada uno de los países en América Latina y sus mecanismos de integración
multilateral para complementar el panorama regional, a través de una visión
comprensiva de los factores que son comunes para todos éstos.
Proveer al estudiante con las destrezas para presentar temas de discusión acerca de
América Latina e identificar los principales desafíos y perspectivas futuras de la
región.
