Spring has sprung after a fun and exciting
winter for the Latchkey program. Our big
winter/February vacation trip to the
Ecotarium was a huge hit. The students
were able to explore all the Ecotarium
offered and later enjoyed a show about
the planets where they learned a little
about each one. We might have a few
budding astronomers after the trip!

About Our Programs
Community Day Learning (Community Day Care),
is a program of The Community Group. CDA
Beyond After School Enrichment Program represent
a partnership between Community Day Learning
and Lawrence Public Schools. Through our early
learning centers and network of home care
providers, Community Day Learning offers
continuity of care from infancy through 12 years.
Students enrolled in our infant/toddler program
may progress to a preschool/kindergarten program
to a school age program. This continuity of care in
our high quality programs can be an important
factor in the positive development of our students.
During the second session, students
from the Wetherbee School put on the
play The Little Mermaid. It was a huge
success with students, community
members, friends, and families raving
about the performance they attended.
We could not be prouder of these
budding actors! We closed out the
second session with a celebration on
Thursday, March 24 to showcase all that
the students learned.
The third session kicked off on Monday,
March 28 and we have added some
exciting new programs including
Recording Music and Rowing on the
River. The students also
will participate in a new
service learning project
to help them learn the
needs of community
members. The project
also will have the added
benefit of teaching them
how to sew.
As we move farther into spring, we are
planning for our annual Parents Night,
which will happen during April vacation.
You don’t want to miss this! The theme
for this year is South America. Each
Latchkey site is researching and learning
about a different country, including Chile,
Argentina, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia and
Brazil. The students are working hard and
preparing an awesome show for Family
Night, which also will include a special
performance by Peruvian music group Inca
Son – we cannot wait!
The Latchkey site coordinators continue
to work together building better
relationships across sites and with their
staff. The Latchkey program goal has

As the weather improves, we plan to take
advantage of spring in New England. We
have a number of outside organized and
structured games in the works for the
Latchkey students. Summer planning is
also in full effect! Each site is working on
their themes and activity ideas. We are
very excited to end the school year on a
positive note, and start planning the fun
educational activities for our summer
program!
The Latchkey program also has some new
staff members. Raquel Roque joins the
staff at the Parthum, and Jaritza Hidalgo

¡Felicitaciones a los actores maravillosos de la pequeña sirena!
Los coordinadores de sitio Latchkey continúan
trabajando juntos para construir mejores
relaciones a través de los sitios y con su
personal. El objetivo del Programa de Latchkey
siempre ha sido centrarse en las
necesidades individuales de cada niño, y
asegurarnos de satisfacer esas
necesidades. La construcción de estas

Estábamos felices de ver a uno de
nuestros estudiantes del Programa de
Enriquecimiento de Latchkey participar en
la obra "The Little Mermaid" este año en
el Wetherbee, y ver que tantos otros
estudiantes hicieron audiciones. Estamos
muy orgullosos de ver la creatividad de
estos estudiantes.
