TUTORIALS -- By prior appointment:
1st semester: Wed, 1000 - 1400 and Fri, 0900 - 1030
2nd semester: Tue, 0800 - 1400
This subject offers a survey of the major literary productions of the 19th century in Great Britain, in two
large thematic blocks: Romanticism and Victorianism. Within each, both fiction and poetic works will be
analysed.
At the end of this subject, students will have learned to do the following:
- know details and understand the relationships between different works, authors and periods going beyond
the mere chronological boundaries into differences of style, themes or literary conventions
- appreciate the poetic, dramatic, narrative, aesthetic, historical and/or cultural elements of a literary work

2. Failure to submit an assessment task or to attend a test
If a student fails to hand in an assignment or to show up on the day and at the time established by the lecturer
for the exams or practical sessions, the grade for that assignment, exam or practical session will be 0 (zero),
in case the student has presented more than a third of the total assigned evaluation course tasks. Only if the
student has presented a third or less of the total assigned evaluation course tasks, will the grade be ‘NP’.
The dates and times of the official exams will not be altered under any circumstances, except those
contemplated by the Reglament Acadèmic (when two exams coincide on the same day with a time difference
of under three hours between them). Students will not be allowed into the classroom when the exam/practical
session has already started.
