Growth and Development Education

Dear Parents of Form 5 and Form 6 Students,
We will shortly be starting classes of Growth and Development Education for students in Form 5
and Form 6. The retirement of Ps Santiago Lozano, who had been responsible for teaching this
programme for the last 24 years, gave us the opportunity to evaluate and re-assess the
programme in the light of changes to our curriculum framework and the needs of students.
The Growth and Development Education programme will be led by Mrs Maria Alejandra Britos,
a qualified Psychologist who has been co-ordinating the Pastoral Programme in the Senior
School for a number of years. She understands the community and is aligned with the Mission
of the School, she also has an understanding of the PYP. Mrs Britos will work in close
collaboration with the Junior School staff (Mrs Denise Danree, Mrs Tatiana Costa or Mrs Kim
Mac Lennan). This course will consist of a series of classes (approximately 2 per month) held
during School hours for the remainder of the academic year.
We would like to invite all parents of Form 5 & Form 6 students to a meeting on Wednesday 8th
June, beginning at 1900 in the Green Room. The curriculum and methodology will be
presented during the meeting.
Although attendance at these classes is optional, we encourage the participation of all students as
it is better for them to be informed of their own physical and emotional development by an
experienced teacher and psychologist rather than to receive their information second-hand.
Please therefore, complete and return the form below if you do not wish your child to attend
these classes.

Estimados Padres de Alumnos de Form 5 y Form 6:
Les informamos que en breve estaremos comenzando con las clases de Educación en el
Desarrollo y Crecimiento para los alumnos de Form 5 y Form 6. La jubilación del Sr. Santiago
Lozano, responsable de enseñar el programa en los últimos 24 años, nos ha permitido evaluar el
mismo en virtud de los cambios en el curriculum y las necesidades de los alumnos.
El programa de Educación en el Desarrollo y Crecimiento será impartido por la Sra. María
Alejandra Britos, calificada Psicóloga quien ha coordinado en los últimos años el Programa de
Pastoral en el Senior. La Sra. Britos está alineada con la comunidad y la Misión de The British
Schools, así como también con el PYP. La Sra. Britos trabajará en conjunto con los docentes de
Junior (Sra. Denise Danrée, Sra. Tatiana Costa y Sra. Kim Mac Lennan). El curso consistirá en
una serie de clases (aproximadamente dos por mes), las cuales serán dictadas en horario escolar.
Invitamos a los padres de Form 5 y Form 6 a una reunión el miércoles 8 de junio a las 1900 en
el Green Room. En esta instancia se presentará el curriculum y la metodología a seguir.
Aunque estas clases son optativas, enfatizamos que siempre es mejor que los alumnos estén
informados sobre el desarrollo físico y emocional de su cuerpo directamente por un profesional
con experiencia, a que reciban la información de segunda mano por otras fuentes. Por lo tanto,
solicitamos tengan a bien firmar y devolver el talón al pie en el caso de no autorizar a su hijo/a
a participar de dichas clases.
