This work aims to describe the life circumstances of people with mental illness
that they can lead to suffer social exclusion. That is what also explained key to
understanding the phenomenon of social exclusion notions. Thus, it is intended to
establish the relationships between mental illness and social exclusion. In
particular, it will focus in persons with several mental disorders.

To achieve this goal several interviews are conducted to people who can provide
meaningful information on the difficulties encountered by these people to integrate
into society. The methodology is eminently qualitative, trying to extract testimonies
and personal experiences, and conclusions that will achieve the objective of the
work.
The results of this analysis are illuminating for understanding the relationship of
existing reciprocity between social exclusion and mental illness. Throughout this
paper shows that, if they occur simultaneously, one increases the other´s action.

El presente trabajo pretende describir las circunstancias vitales de las personas
con enfermedad metal, que les pueden llevar a sufrir la exclusión social. Es por
ello que también se explican nociones clave para entender el fenómeno de la
exclusión social. De esta manera, se pretende establecer la relación existente
entre enfermedad mental y exclusión social. En concreto se centrará en las
personas con trastornos mentales graves.
Para lograr este objetivo se realizan diversas entrevistas a personas que pueden

ofrecer información significativa sobre las dificultades que encuentran estas
personas para integrarse en la sociedad. La metodología empleada es
eminentemente cualitativa, intentando extraer de los testimonios y experiencias
personales y conclusiones que permitan la consecución del objetivo del trabajo.
Los resultados de este análisis resultan esclarecedores para entender la relación
de reciprocidad existente entre exclusión social y enfermedad mental. A lo largo de
este trabajo se demuestra que, si se dan a la vez, una incrementa la acción de la
otra.
