INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
Every year on the International Day of Peace, the United
Nations calls on the people of the world to reaffirm their
commitment to living in harmony as members of a single
human family.
This year’s commemoration, “Partnerships for Peace -Dignity for All”, highlights the importance of cooperation
in silencing the guns and advancing the cause. Without
the support of governments, civil society, the private
sector, faith-based groups and non-governmental organizations, peace will remain elusive.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the United Nations
as well as a transition to a new global sustainable development agenda and meaningful action on climate
change.
Over the next 100 days, let us stand with the millions of
people across the world who are suffering the devastating impact of violence and conflict. Let us share ideas
and plans for helping and supporting them in their time of
dire need.
Together, as “partners for peace”, we can achieve a
world of peace, prosperity and dignity for all.

ABOUT PEACE ONE DAY
Jeremy Gilley is an actor turned filmmaker, who in the late 1990s became preoccupied with questions
about the fundamental nature of humanity and the issue of peace. In 1999, Jeremy founded Peace One
Day, a non-profit organisation, and in 2001 Peace One Day’s efforts were rewarded when the member
states of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and
non-violence on 21 September – Peace Day. Peace One Day’s objective is to institutionalise Peace Day
21 September, making it a day that is self-sustaining, an annual day of global unity, a day of intercultural
cooperation on a scale that humanity has never known.

Durante esta semana estaremos en actividades especiales con motivo
de la celebración del Día Internacional de la Paz.
El Día Internacional de la Paz se celebra en todo el mundo el 21 de
septiembre. La Asamblea General lo ha declarado como un día dedicado a fortalecer los ideales de paz, dentro de las naciones, como
entre todas ellas y sus pueblos.
El lema de la celebración de este año es «Alianzas para la paz, dignidad para todos», con el fin resaltar la importancia de que todos los
grupos sociales trabajen juntos para lograr la paz.

En el Altamira International School se implementa el House System como un sistema para organizar
juegos y deportes como parte de sus actividades cotidianas co-curriculares, donde los estudiantes acumulan puntos a lo largo del año escolar al participar en diversas actividades. Los alumnos son asignados a una Casa en forma aleatoria; una vez que un alumno se ha sido asignado a una Casa, todos
sus hermanos y hermanas menores serán automáticamente asignados a dicho grupo cuando se incorporen a la escuela.
En el “Sistema de Casas” del Altamira, los estudiantes se encuentran divididos en cuatro grupos, los
cuales están basados en los cuatro símbolos de nuestro escudo: la antorcha, el libro, la familia y las
banderas.
Con este programa se busca promover la integración de todo el estudiantado a través del trabajo en
equipo al incentivar la competencia y el sentido de pertenencia. Este sistema también proporciona
oportunidades para que los estudiantes para descubran sus fuerzas y talentos que de otra manera
podrían permanecer desconocidos.
ESTE MIÉRCOLES 23 DE SEPTIEMBRE SE LLEVARÁ A CABO LA PRIMERA COMPETENCIA DE CASAS DEL AÑO
