Curricula vitae Ana Rioja Nieto is a Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Complutense University of Madrid. Her main research fields are the Philosophy of Nature, the Philosophy of Physics and the History of Science. Among her recent books are Teorías del Universo, vol. 3, De Newton a Hubble (together with J. Ordóñez; Síntesis, 2006) and Galileo en el infierno. Un diálogo con Paul Feyerabend (together with J.L. González Recio, Trotta, 2007). One of her latest contributions is “The Size of the Universe: a Problem for Natural Philosophy”, in J. L. González Recio (ed.), Philosophical Essays on Physics and Biology (written together with J. Ordóñez; Georg Olms, 2009). She has coedited the book Exposición del Sistema del mundo de Pierre-Simon Laplace (Crítica, 2006) and edited ‘Del Movimiento’ de G. Berkeley (prefaced bilingual annotated edition, Escolano & Mayo, 2009). Andrés Rivadulla Rodríguez is a Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Complutense University of Madrid. His main research fields are the History and Philosophy of Physics, the History and Philosophy of probability theory and mathematical statistics, and the Epistemology and Methodology of Science. He has published various articles on these subjects in international journals like, among others, The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science, Erkenntnis, and Synthese. He is also the author of four books: Filosofía Actual de la Ciencia (Tecnos, 1986), Probabilidad e Inferencia Científ ica, (Anthropos, 1991), Revoluciones en Física (Trotta, 2003), and Éxito, Razón y Cambio en Física (Trotta, 2004). He has also published several papers in collective books. Juan Antonio Valor Yébenes is a Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Complutense University of Madrid. His main reseach fields are the History and Philosophy of Science (especially the Philosophy of Physics) as well as American Pragmatism. Carlos Castrodeza Ruiz de la Cuesta is a Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Complutense University of Madrid, where he has been teaching since 1985, mainly History and Philosophy of Science. He conducted experimental work for his doctoral thesis on Problems of Speciation (1973) at Helsinki’s and Edinburgh’s Universities. Later on he worked for a Master of Philosophy degree on Epistemic Problems in Evolutionary Biology (1978) at Leeds University. His research output for the last 30 years has centered on standard philosophical problems (ethical, ontological, epistemological) contemplated from a naturalistic perspective. Francisco Javier Serrano Bosquet is a Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Ethics in the ITESM, Campus Monterrey (México) where he teaches Philosophy of Science and Ethics; he has published many papers in specialized journals and collective books on these subjects. He coordinates the Scientific-Technological Perspective of ITESM, and is also the coordinator of the area of Humanities and Social Studies on Science in the Annual Congress of Research and Development. He is as well a researcher at the center Science and Culture in the ITESM and a member of the Bionomos Group (UCM-Spain) since its foundation. José Luis González Recio is a Professor at the Faculty of Philosohy of the Complutense University of Madrid. His research is centred on the Philosophy of Nature and the History and the Philosophy of Science, with special attention to the History and the Philosophy of Biology. González-Castán is a Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Complutense University of Madrid. His main areas of interest are the Philosophy of Mind, the Phenomenology and the Moral Philosophy. He has published the books La conciencia errante. Introducción crítica a la filosofía de la psicología (Tecnos, 1999), and Las direcciones de la mirada moral (Universidad de Alcalá, 2003). Luis Fernández Moreno is a Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Complutense University of Madrid, having taught before at the University of León. He is the author of about 50 papers in specialized journals and collective books, mainly on subjects of Philosophy of Language and logical-philosophical questions. Pedro Chacón Fuertes is a Full Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid since 1992. He has edited the books Filosofía de la Psicología (Biblioteca Nueva, 2000) and Pensando la mente: Perspectivas en Filosofía y Psicología (Biblioteca Nueva, 2001). Juan Hermoso Durán is a Professor of Psychology at the Cardenal Cisneros University College, an adjunct to the Complutense University of Madrid. His research interests lie in the fields of the Philosophy of Mind, the Philosophy of Language, the Philosophy and History of Psychology, and the Epistemology and Philosophy of Science. Javier Vilanova Arias is a Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Complutense University of Madrid. José María Benítez Escario is a doctoral student at the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science of the Complutense University of Madrid.
