Dear Parents,
You are invited to attend an evening with the Grand Prairie school nurses and a fifth grade teacher
from your respective school. The focus of this meeting is to discuss topics your fifth grade student
will be taught regarding human growth, development, and puberty. The meetings will be held
Wednesday evening, October 12th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at four convenient locations.
1. Powell Elementary, 5009 S. Carrier Pkwy, 75052
School representatives will be present from Florence Hill, Dickinson,
Powell, Moseley, and Garner Elementary Schools.
2. Williams Elementary - 1635 S.E. ¡4th St. Grand Prairie, 75051
School representatives will be present from Ochoa-Milam, Williams, Seguin, Bowie
and Daniels Elementary Schools.
3. Austin Elementary - 815 N.W. 7th Street, Grand Prairie, 75050
School representatives will be present from Austin, Eisenhower, Travis, Garcia
and Lee Elementary Schools.
4. Marshall Elementary- 1160 Warrior Trail, Grand Prairie, 75052
Schools representatives will be present from School for the Highly Gifted at Dubiski,
Whitt, Bush, Moore, Marshall, Rayburn and De Zavala Elementary Schools.
An overview of the fifth grade curriculum on Family Life Education will be presented and you
may view the DVD and materials used in teaching the lessons. The 4 lessons are:
• Puberty- What is It?
• DVD- Straight Talk for Boys
•
Puberty -Big Changes
•
DVD- Straight Talk for Girls
•
Life Choices-Big Decisions
•
Test
There will be time for questions and discussion. The course is taught by the school nurses and
requires a signed parent permission form in order for your child to take the classes. You will
receive the form approximately two weeks prior to the teaching of the lessons.
The Austin location will provide Spanish translation.
You may choose the school you wish to attend. If you have any questions, please contact Pat Shull

la forma de permiso firmada por los padres para que su hijo tome las clases. Usted recibirá la forma
aproximadamente dos semanas antes de que se den las lecciones.
Las presentaciones en Austin Elementary tendrán interpretación al español.
Usted puede escoger la escuela a la cual desee asistir. Si tiene cualquier pregunta favor de hablar
