What are IGCSE courses and
examinations like?
• Subjects are graded A*, A, B, C, D, E, F and G. A is awarded for
the highest level of achievement and G for the lowest
• Assessment: usually 4 to 6 hours of exams covering 3 papers
per subject, all externally marked by Cambridge with the results
available mid January 2017

IGCSE?

Form V IB entry criteria
• Students must be predicted at least a grade C at IGCSE by
departments in a minimum of 6 subjects
• In borderline cases, individuals ATL throughout the year will be
considered

Procedure for registration
• Departments will recommend students for examination entry
based on performance so far:
- End of Term 1 predicted grades
- End of Term 2 predicted grades
• You will receive a letter with these recommendations by the
end of Term 1 and 2

Procedure for registration
• Departments will only recommend students for entry if they have
been predicted at least a D by the end of term 2 (most students are
expected to complete the IGCSE exams)
• IB Diploma entry will be confirmed by using the IGCSE entries,
predicted grades, final IGCSE results in Jan 2017 and effort and
attitude, especially in Term 4

Important note
• The IGCSE exams are an integral part of our international
curriculum and are not just for IB entry
• If students are achieving at an E or F at IGCSE this is roughly
equivalent to a 10/11 and are therefore failing or close to failing the
course
• Students who do not attend the final IGCSE exams in November
will automatically fail themselves and be liable for the cost of the
exam.

• Los exámenes de IGCSE son una parte esencial de nuestro plan
internacional y no son sólo para la entrada de IB
• Estudiantes logran en una E o F en IGCSE que esto es
aproximadamente equivalente a un 10/11 y por lo tanto fallan o
cierran
• Estudiantes cada vez más débiles que no asisten los exámenes
