is the official motto of
the United States. It was
adopted as the nation's
motto in 1956 as an alternative or replacement to
the unofficial motto of E
pluribus unum, which was
adopted when the Great
Seal of the United States was created and adopted in 1782.
"In God We Trust" first appeared on U.S. coins in 1864[3] and has
appeared on paper currency since 1957. A law passed in a Joint
Resolution by the 84th Congress (P.L. 84-140) and approved by
President Dwight Eisenhower on July 30, 1956 declared IN GOD WE
TRUST must appear on currency. This phrase was first used on paper
money in 1957, when it appeared on the one-dollar silver certificate.
The first paper currency bearing the phrase entered circulation on
October 1, 1957. As of April 1, 2016 the following US states
currently offer a “In God We Trust” license plate for an additional
charge above the normal vehicle registration processing fees which
vary from state to state: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana,
Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma,
Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and
Wisconsin. Some states charge a yearly fee for the plates while others
do not. Georgia offers a decal with “In God We Trust” but not a license
plate at this time.

You have to love a nation that celebrates its
independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks
and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength
and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees,
the potatoe salad looks
iffy, and the flies die from
happiness. You may
think you have overeaten,
but its patriotism.

MARRIAGES: Please contact the Parish Office six months in
advance to schedule an appointment with Fr. Blaise. Marriages
scheduled in Spanish by Deacon Jaime are held on the last Saturday
of the month.
QUINCEAÑERAS: Register at the Parish Office 6 months in
advance. A deposit is required at the time of registration.
Quinceañeras in Spanish are held on the last Saturday of the month at
12Noon. Quinceañeras in English are on Saturdays at Noon. The
young woman and her parents are required to meet with the Priest or
Deacon one month prior to the celebration.
FUNERAL MASS: Contact Parish Office for a date and time if not
already arranged through the mortuary. You will then be contacted by
our Funeral Mass Coordinator to arrange music and readings.
MINISTRY TO THE SICK/HOMEBOUND: To arrange
Communion to the sick or homebound or to receive the Sacrament of
the Anointing of the Sick for someone on Hospice, seriously ill, the
elderly or anyone scheduled for surgery call the Parish Office.
SACRAMENT SPONSORSHIP For letter of permission to
sponsor someone for a Sacrament contact the Parish Office.

Unidos. Esto se adoptó como el
lema nacional en 1956 como alternative o reemplazo de el lema
extraoficial E pluribus unum, que

Estados Unidos.
"En Dios Confiamos" apareció por primera vez en las monedas
americanas en 1864 y ha estado en el papel moneda desde 1957.
El 84th Congreso promulgó una ley por medio de una Resolución
Conjunta (P.L. 84-140) que fue aprobada por el Presidente Dwight
Eisenhower el 30 de julio, 1956, declarando que la moneda nacional

Algunos estados cobran una cuota annual por las placas, otros no.
Georgia ofrece una calcomanía con la frase “En Dios Confiamos”,
pero no ofrece una placa con ello por el momento.

Desde “siempre”, los estadounidenses han celebrado el 4
de julio con grandes espectáculos de fuegos artificiales en las
plazas públicas.
John Adams, uno de los padres de la independencia y segundo presidente de Estados Unidos, quiso que la Independencia se celebrara con desfiles y fueron artificiales que iluminaran el cielo… siglos después su deseo sigue ardiendo.
Los primeros fuegos artificiales para conmemorar el Día de
la Independencia tuvieron lugar el 4 de julio de 1777 en
Filadelfia donde la celebración terminó con el sonido de las
campanas, y por la noche hubo una gran exposición de fuegos
artificiales, que iniciaron y concluyeron con 13 cohetes.
Usted tiene que amar una nación que celebra su independencia cada 4 de julio, no con un desfile de armas, tanques y
soldados marchando en frente
de la Casa Blanca mostrando
su poder, sino con comidas
familiares al aire libre, donde
los niños tiran sus Frisbees, la
ensalada de papas luce dudosa y las moscas mueren de
felicidad. Usted puede pensar
que comió mucho.
