Old age is the period that marks a before and an after in the active life of people.
the practicess that I have done in ACCEM's centres in Brussels, have given me the
opportunity to analyse how people who chose to emigrate in their youth looking for a
better future, manage this period of their lives called old age in brussels.
In line with the goals set for this tfg, we will try to establish why and to what extent, after

their working life and independently from where they are living now, retired people want
to participate in social activities. Moreover we will like to analyze why they want to carry
out these social activities with people who are identify with.
We will analyze the following variables: self-confidence, the sense of membership, the
identity, social isolation and the satisfaction. After analyzing the results de will verify that
the old people felt socially isolated and that those centres help to palliate this feeling and
create a sense of membership while favors the group identity.

Denominamos tercera edad a la etapa que marca un antes y un después en la vida activa
de las personas.
Mediante las prácticas realizadas en los centros ACCEM en Bruselas, analizaremos cómo
enfocan la tercera edad personas que eligieron la emigración, en sus años jóvenes, en
busca de un futuro mejor.

Siguiendo los objetivos marcados conoceremos hasta qué punto y porqué, después de su
vida laboral –con independencia de haberse desarrollado en el extranjero- las personas
quieren participar en actividades y sienten la necesidad de hacerlo en compañía de otras
personas con las que se sienten identificadas.
Mediremos las siguientes variables: la autoestima, el sentido de pertenencia, la identidad,
el aislamiento social y la satisfacción. Y tras analizar los resultados constataremos que los
mayores experimentaron aislamiento social y estos centros contribuyen a paliarlo y crear
un sentido de pertenencia a la vez que favorecen la identidad grupal.
