WHAT ARE INDUCTION
GENERATORS?
 The induction generator is also known
as asynchronous generator.
 It generates electricity.
HOW DOES THE ASYNCHRONOUS MACHINE WORK
AS A GENERATOR.
• To generate electric energy, needs to produce induced voltage in stator’s
coil. To start asynchronous generator, it is necessary to obtain reactive
power from grid to form a rotating magnetic field. This field makes rotor
spin like in a motor. For being linked to a primary machine, rotor’s speed
must be higher than rotating magnetic field to generate active power.
TYPES OF INDUCTION GENERATORS.
• There are three of induction generators:
1.) Single Fed induction generator.
2.) Doubly Fed(Double-excited) induction generator.
3.) Variable-speed induction generator.
HOW ARE THEY
CLASSIFIED.
• Induction generators can be classified
based on their operation and
connection to the electrical system.
• Based on the method of excitation.
INDUCTION GENERATORS BY OPERATION.
Self-excited induction generator.
Grid-connected induction generator.
INDUCTION GENERATORS BY EXCITATION.
Externally excited
induction
generator.
Capacitor-excited
induction
generator.
Brushless
excitation
induction
generators.
FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLE.
• The induction generator operates on the same fundamental principles as
an induction motor, which is based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic
induction.
APPLICATIONS OF
INDUCTION
GENERATORS.
Water
companies.
windmills.
Paper mills.
CONCLUSION.
• In conclusion, induction generators are versatile electrical devices that play
a crucial role in various power generation applications. Their simplicity,
reliability, and ability to operate in diverse environments make them
suitable for a range of scenarios.
