CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICE
SOUTH CAROLINA PUBLIC SCHOOLS
STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA
COUNTY OF GREENVILLE
WHEREAS The School District of Greenville County, the "District" wishes to employ Cuellar Peraza, Estela #145844 as the "Employee," and
WHEREAS this contract is issued as a(n) [CONTINUING] contract as defined by Section 59-26-40 of the South Carolina Code of Laws (Rev.
2004).
WHEREAS Employee wishes to accept this employment and perform professional services for the District,
NOW, THEREFORE, the District and Employee agree as follows:
1.
The Employee shall maintain throughout the life of this contract the required qualifications of a teacher, including a valid South Carolina
teaching credential, as well as the "highly qualified" certification to perform his or her teaching assignment, as that term is defined in the
No Child Left Behind Act and all South Carolina State Board of Education implementing rules and regulations. Failure to maintain such
professional qualification(s) during the contract period shall constitute grounds for termination of this contract.
2.
Subject to any special conditions set forth below, Employee agrees to discharge faithfully for the scholastic year 2023-2024 for 190 days
all the duties imposed on a teacher by the laws of the State of South Carolina and by the policies and administrative rules and regulations
of the State Department of Education and of the District. Employee further agrees to perform such other duties as assigned by Employee's
immediate supervisor or as constitute part of the regular staff program at the school or District level.
3.
The District agrees to pay the Employee according to the salary schedule adopted by the Board. This salary schedule will be made
available as soon as practicable. Loss or reduction in any amount of anticipated or appropriated state, local or federal funding may, at the
discretion of the District, require a pro-rata reduction of salary; a reduction in the term of this contract and pro-rata reduction in salary, i.e.,
a furlough consistent with State law; or a termination of this agreement. Furthermore, any decline in student enrollment, elimination or
change in course programming, or temporary closing of school or District operations because of emergency circumstances may require a
pro-rata reduction in term and/or salary. Any such actions will be based on the recommendation of the Superintendent and must be
approved by the Board. Any position eliminations will be handled in accordance with Board Policy GBKA (Reduction in Force).
4.
The assignment indicated below is tentative and subject to change within the sole discretion of the Superintendent. Changes in assignment
do not affect the validity of this contract.
5.
If the District's Human Resources Department does not already have on file a certificate from a licensed physician on a valid form
certifying that Employee does not have tuberculosis in an active stage, Employee must submit such a report to Human Resources to begin
work. This offer of employment is subject to receipt of a criminal record history, which reveals no good and just cause for its withdrawal.
6.
This contract may be terminated by written agreement of both parties or in accordance with South Carolina law and the District's policies
and regulations as applicable to the contract status indicated above.
7.
This contract is subject to any stipulation(s) attached by the District. One copy of any such stipulation(s) must be signed, dated, and
returned with this contract if this contract is to be valid. Failure to comply with any stipulation(s) renders this contract void from its
inception.
8.
The administration may assign reasonable extracurricular activities to the Employee. Each extracurricular assignment, including coaching
assignments, is for the stated school year only, and no expectations are created concerning assignments for future years. All
extracurricular assignments are discretionary with the administration and may be made or terminated at any time, upon notice to and
consultation with the Employee.
9.
THIS CONTRACT IS THE FULL AND COMPLETE EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE DISTRICT AND EMPLOYEE.
THE DISTRICT'S POLICY MANUAL, ANY EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK, AND ANY ORAL OR WRITTEN STATEMENT BY ANY
OF THE DISTRICT'S EMPLOYEES ARE INTENDED ONLY TO GUIDE THE DISTRICT IN ITS RELATIONS WITH ITS
EMPLOYEES EMPLOYED PURSUANT TO THIS CONTRACT AND ARE NOT BINDING. THE DISTRICT RESERVES THE
RIGHT, IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION, TO MAKE CHANGES TO ITS POLICIES OR PRACTICES AT ANY TIME.
10.
This offer is void unless Employee signs and returns it to the Human Resources Department on or before August 21, 2023.
I accept employment with The School District of Greenville County pursuant to this contract.
