In fact, as you approach 40th Street from 39th, you can see a 2.4-metre monument to Garment District workers. It’s a sculpture of a man using a sewing machine to put a button on some clothing. My sister said that on her trip, she had taken a tour around some designer showrooms. These are places where designers like Calvin Klein display their products before they are sent to shops. She advised me to book a tour, but I enjoyed looking at the different materials, like cotton and wool, in the fabric shops on my own. She also mentioned there were shops where you couldn’t try anything on or get a refund, so be careful what you buy! Sarah: I’d recommend going to fashion week. You can do that in New York or Milan.
